Kicking Sunrise
Kicking Sunrise
Kicking Sunrise means that we never want the night to end, and to enjoy life to its fullest. We all agreed that the name would also fit our upbeat style of music very well. The band actually formed after a successful posting on YouTube in January 2013.

Interview
What do you think sets you apart from other bands in your genre ?
We write our own songs together as a team with no outside help. We spend countless hours brainstorming, writing and performing our own material until we feel it is perfect and ready to be recorded.
Where can a person find your find your work (if the band is not well known)?
You can stream our debut album
What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
Our biggest challenge to this day is identifying our sound as a band. Considering we play many different genres of music, it is difficult to narrow down which sound fits us best. However, we are making progress in searching for our ideal sound
What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?
We mainly rehearse right before our live performances, which is about two or three times a week. Considering we have been together as a band since 2013, our rehearsals go smoothly and we always make them fun. We spend the rest of our time together writing new material and promoting ourselves to have our name heard around the world.
Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?
We have performed along the East Coast of the United States, as well as in California and Ohio. Honestly, we don’t have a least favorite venue! We enjoy performing at all events, big or small. However, some of our favorite places to play include The Wobbly Barn in Killington, Vermont and Ned Devine's in Boston, Massachusetts. You can find our entire tour schedule at kickingsunrise.com/tour. We will be performing all summer long down the shore in New Jersey!
What are the biggest obstacles for bands?
Our biggest obstacle is definitely combining business with creativity. We have four different personalities in our band and sometimes the decision making process can be tedious. Overall, we want everyone to be happy at the end of the day and that may take some time with us.
What's new in the recording of your music ?
We are planning on releasing a new EP this summer and are very excited about it. Since we are beginning to discover our sound more and more, we feel that our writing and recording skills are getting better at the same time. We can’t wait for everyone to hear it!
Why did you pick your band name? How did you form? Why did you decide to play the genre or genres you do?
The name of our band came from Matt Bosco’s brother, Luke. Kicking Sunrise means that we never want the night to end, and to enjoy life to its fullest. We all agreed that the name would also fit our upbeat style of music very well. The band actually formed after a successful posting on YouTube in January 2013. Considering two of us were best friends from a previous band (Joe and Mark) and the other two (Ryan and Matt) were actively involved in writing music on their own, we decided to form this four-piece band that is now known as Kicking Sunrise.
Confirm band members and names (and band name!)?
We're Kicking Sunrise! The band consists of Joe Murphy (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Ryan Hornibrook (Backing Vocals, Bass), Matt Bosco (Lead Guitar) and Mark Altamuro (Drums).
Do you have a band website? Why or why not? Do you have a Facebook or Twitter? Do you use Bandcamp, SoundCloud to share your music?
Yes, you can check us out at www.kickingsunrise.com. You can also find us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, and Twitter @kickingsunrise
