Fourth Book in ‘LayLa the Lovable Dog’ Series Takes Rescue Dog to the Lake

Stacey A. DeLaney has released "The Adventures of LayLa the Lovable Dog: The Story of Her Going to the Lake," the fourth book in her children’s series following the real-life dog she and her husband Dave rescued eleven years ago. The book is published through Christian Faith Publishing.

The series began as an account of DeLaney’s own experience with LayLa, a dog she describes as having rescued her in return during a difficult period of her life. Earlier installments have followed LayLa into settings including a school, where, according to a synopsis of the series, she worked alongside students who needed extra support. This latest entry moves the setting to a lake, following LayLa and her companion through what the announcement describes as splashing in the shallows and exploring the shoreline together.

DeLaney spent her career as an educator and high school principal before turning to writing, and the announcement notes she is fluent in American Sign Language, which she has incorporated into her interactions with LayLa. The book is aimed at young readers and centers on themes of companionship, animal welfare, and what DeLaney frames as the emotional and spiritual value of rescue animals. "LayLa has brought immeasurable joy and unconditional love into my life, and through these stories, I hope to share that gift with others," DeLaney said in the announcement, adding that she hopes readers will consider the impact rescue animals can have and the connections people can form with them.
