From Victim to Courtroom Champion: Aneet Padda Takes Center Stage in “Hunkkaar: The Roar”

Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk

Aneet Padda stars as a teenage abuse survivor fighting for justice in "Hunkkaar: The Roar," a 6-episode courtroom drama launched on JioHotstar in late September 2026.

The series follows teenage character Meenu Rawat, who brings charges of exploitation against a religious figure called Baapji and takes her case to court. Fatima Sana Shaikh plays ACP Jasleen Singh Soin among the supporting cast.

The show arrives in a crowded field of Indian streaming dramas built around real-world social issues playing out in a legal setting, a genre that has found a steady audience on platforms competing for subscribers with socially charged, awards-adjacent content. Early reviews have singled out Padda’s performance in particular, with critics describing her handling of the role as mature and controlled given the material’s difficulty.

Studio CarryOnHarry will be watching whether "Hunkkaar: The Roar" holds its footing past the premiere news cycle, since courtroom dramas built on sensitive abuse allegations tend to live or die on whether the writing matches the seriousness of the subject. Watch it on JIO Hotstar
