Johnathan and Miriam Bowen’s New Fantasy Novel “Rimdale War” Follows a Kingdom Bracing for Invasion

Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk

Johnathan and Miriam Bowen have released a new fantasy novel, "Rimdale War," set in the kingdom of Haven as it prepares for war against a far stronger enemy. The book is published through Page Publishing.

The story follows Shadow, a central figure tasked with reuniting a once-unified group of allies known as the Elite after internal conflict scatters them. According to the announcement, Shadow must restore their shared sense of purpose and shape them into a force capable of carrying Haven through what the authors describe as the most destructive conflict the realm has faced. The arrival of unexpected allies offers the kingdom’s people a measure of hope, but the announcement frames that hope as carrying its own risks, as the Elite’s internal fractures threaten to undo whatever strength the alliance provides.

The authors describe the book as centered on leadership under pressure, and on characters who hold real power but remain conscious of their own inexperience. "We wanted to explore what happens when hope and despair collide, when heroes rise not from certainty but from necessity," the authors said in a statement. "Shadow’s journey is about learning to depend on the strength and sacrifice of others while yet remaining true to a far greater purpose."

Writing together, the Bowens built the novel around worldbuilding and layered relationships between characters, with the announcement positioning resilience, sacrifice, and unity as the book’s central themes as Haven’s fate is decided.

"Rimdale War" is available through Page Publishing’s website, as well as Amazon, Apple iTunes Store, Google Play, Barnes and Noble, and bookstores generally.

Fantasy readers drawn to ensemble casts and kingdom-at-war stakes will find a familiar shape here, in Studio CarryOnHarry’s view — what distinguishes it, if anything, will come down to how the Bowens handle the fracture and reunion of the Elite once readers are in the book itself.
