New Picture Book “Two Dogs” Pairs a Rainy-Day Romp With Early Counting and Vocabulary Lessons

Andrianna Smyrniotis has released "Two Dogs," a picture book following two dogs through a day of muddy, rain-soaked play before they head inside for dinner and rest, according to the publisher’s announcement. The book is published by Newman Springs Publishing and is available at bookstores and through Apple iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Barnes and Noble.

Smyrniotis brings more than three decades of early childhood education experience to the project, having worked as a program coordinator and as an instructor training future educators, per the announcement. That background shows up in how the book is constructed: beneath the story of two dogs sniffing, barking, and chasing each other lies what the publisher describes as an introduction to the concept of the number two, alongside vocabulary-building language aimed at infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and English Language Learners.

The pairing of a simple, playful narrative with deliberate developmental goals is a common approach in early literacy publishing, where illustrated stories double as tools for building language and pre-math skills before a child reaches school age. "Two Dogs" fits that mold: a slim, accessible premise carrying curriculum-adjacent intent.

"The motivation behind all my stories is to reference developmental standards and inspire learning in an atmosphere of joy," Smyrniotis said in the announcement.
