Tampa Pastor’s Wife Publishes Memoir of 43 Years in Ministry, Raising Two Pro Baseball Players

Beverly Gail Raburn has published a new book, "Letters from the Front Porch," a collection of stories spanning her and Johnny’s lengthy tenure at ClairMel Assembly of God in Tampa, Florida, where he served as pastor beginning in 1981, according to the announcement.

Raburn’s writing grew out of devotionals she wrote for the church’s women’s ministry, the announcement states. She comes from a family of Gospel singers who performed across Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, and she has described bringing that same storytelling instinct to her decades as a pastor’s wife, mentor, and mother.

The book centers on her and Johnny’s life together, including raising two sons who went on to play professional baseball while, per the announcement, staying grounded in the family’s faith. Raburn describes the collection as covering both the ordinary and the difficult stretches of that life, including seasons of loss alongside seasons the announcement describes as blessing.

"I hope these true stories from our life and ministry provide a blessing and encouragement to every reader," Raburn said, according to the announcement.

"Letters from the Front Porch" is published through Christian Faith Publishing and is available at bookstores and through Apple iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Barnes & Noble.
