Three Oklahoma Ranch Sisters Publish Cookbook Pairing Family Recipes with Scripture

Three sisters who grew up cooking for cattle crews on their family’s southwest Oklahoma ranch have published a cookbook built from those years in the kitchen. "Grub and Grace: A Ranch Family Cookbook," by Kealey Turner, Kylie McClusky, and Kynlee Waters, is out now through Christian Faith Publishing, running 122 pages.

The three are daughters of Eric and Chy Waters, founders of Waters Cattle Co., and according to the announcement, they learned to cook out of necessity, feeding ranch hands during branding and shipping seasons when the work doesn’t stop for mealtimes. Each sister took on a different part of the project: Kealey, the eldest, focused on baking and home cooking; Kylie, an Oklahoma State graduate who runs two small businesses, handled the photography throughout the book; and Kynlee, the youngest, contributed her background in ranch work and outdoor life.

What separates the book from a standard family cookbook, per the announcement, is its structure: every recipe is paired with Scripture and a short anecdote tied to the dish, built around the family’s faith and daily life on the ranch. The sisters stated they wanted to create something reflecting their family identity, hoping families would use the cookbook to cook together and grow closer to God.
