Author Dr. G. Preston Burns, Jr.’s Book, “Never Turn Down a Ride: 10,000 Miles, 56 Days, 20 Dollars,” is Set in the Intersection of the Radical ’60s and the Mellow ’70s
Dr. G. Preston Burns, Jr. received a bachelor’s degree in economics from UVA in 1969. He then proceeded to the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry receiving his DDS degree in 1973. During dental school, he developed the “Burns System of Contract Bridge called How to Win at Bridge Without Really Trying.” He served in the United States Public Health Service before returning to Fredericksburg to start his practice. His son took over his practice with Dr. Burns retiring completely in 2015. Following this trip, he visited all fifty states and over one hundred foreign countries privately. Since 1990, he has read and studied both the United States and world history extensively. In addition to giving presentations to dental societies on special techniques that he developed, he has given presentations on his Timbucto trip and his private excursion to Iran in May of 2000. The Iran talk covers their history, religion, politics, and culture over their three thousand–year period of existence ending with his personal adventure and photographic tour of Iran. He is also the author of the recent book “Leadership Under Fire,” which is a study of the presidents’ lives and re-ranks them according to his new criteria. He still resides in Fredericksburg and is a longtime member of the Heritage Foundation’s President’s Club.
Dr. G. Preston Burns, Jr. writes, “In my limited travels with my parents at an early age, I became aware that people hitchhiked. We would see mostly men standing on the side of the road with their thumbs out. That vision would almost always be followed by my parents’ voices saying, ‘Never pick up a hitchhiker’ and ‘Never hitchhike. It is way too dangerous.’ They never elaborated on the subject perhaps so as to not get me intrigued by the idea. Anyway, I got the idea that it was, in fact, a bad idea all around.”
Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Dr. G. Preston Burns, Jr.’s new book allows readers to follow along as he moves throughout the country and faces many challenges, including unsavory people, lack of money, and lack of safe overnight accommodations.

Independent Filmmaker and Tech Entrepreneur Jeffrey Ikahn Announces New Feature Film Candy Flip (2026) and Social-Tech Ventures
Candy Flip is a “dramady” feature produced through Argonaut Media Group, Latigo Films in association with Handshake Partners Entertainment and directed by Ikahn.
The film stars Matt Rife, Cole Carter, Jessica Belkin, and Danielle Loving.
Set amid the electric chaos of an exclusive influencer party in Los Angeles, Candy Flip follows a night where fame, illusion, and reality collide. When a group of social media stars and creative elites experiment with a candy-flip — the potent fusion of LSD and MDMA — their euphoric escape turns into an existential free fall. As the night unfolds, filters fade and facades fracture. Beneath the glitter and neon, each character confronts the truth they’ve been performing to avoid: their doubt, loneliness, and desperate need to be seen.
The main character’s trip becomes a descent into self-awareness — a fever dream of memories, fears, and fantasies colliding in hallucinatory clarity. Surrounded by peers who live for attention but starve for connection, they begin to question what’s real, what’s curated, and what remains when the likes disappear. In the chaos of their shared unraveling, egos dissolve, alliances crumble, and a profound realization emerges: sometimes, you have to lose your identity to find your humanity.
“Storytelling has always been about connection,” said Ikahn. “As technology evolves, so should the ways we share those stories — whether through film, social platforms, or entirely new mediums.”
In addition to his filmmaking career, Ikahn is currently building technology companies in the social and media space, developing platforms that empower independent artists, creators, and filmmakers to grow authentic audiences and monetize their creative influence. His work integrates art, entrepreneurship, and innovation — shaping how culture, content, and connection intersect.
Ikahn’s mission with Argonaut Media Group and his upcoming ventures is to bridge the worlds of entertainment and technology — empowering creators to tell impactful stories and audiences to experience them in transformative new ways.

Author James Boudon’s New Book, “Calvary: The Eternity Eclipse,” Introduces Julia Percy, the Leader of Calvary, as She Fights to Escape Her Captors and Save Humanity
Author James Boudon began dabbling at writing short stories in the fourth grade and moved on to creating a comic book called “Rabbitman” during high school and a “Star Trek” novella during college. He has also written numerous poems and song lyrics. He currently works as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service and spends his spare time enjoying golf, hiking, and other outdoor activities when he is not writing. He lives in the beautiful hills and countryside of north central Pennsylvania in a rather remote area where the wildlife outnumbers the people.
Boudon writes, “Julia Kristina Percy sighed as a cool breeze from the oscillating floor fan wafted across her scantily clad sculpted physique. Simultaneously upon the memory-sphere player, Impala Quiff, ‘IQ,’ launched into a squealing high-octane guitar solo. Percy moaned contentedly and closed her eyes as the familiar rock ballad evoked a myriad of all-but-forgotten nostalgia. She was reclining on a lounge chair in the living space of her hotel suite. She had just returned from a vigorous workout in the resort’s large pool and was still clad solely in her olive-green bikini. Lead vocalist Nigel Jape resumed crooning the tune’s lyrics in his scintillating and dulcet tones.”
Published by Page Publishing, James Boudon’s memorable tale invites readers to discover whether Percy will be able to return to her home world ahead of the Bellerophon. Otherwise, all life on the planet will be incinerated, and humanity itself will be erased from existence within the universe.
Readers who wish to experience this engrossing work can purchase “Calvary: The Eternity Eclipse” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
