Emily May’s New Book, “The Icing,” is a Gripping Romantic Drama That Follows the Catastrophic Collision of Two Couples and Their Fight to Remain in Love
[ad_1]
May writes, “Jake has that look in his eye, the one that tells me when he is up to something. I don’t know if I can take any more excitement today. I have something I need to share with him, but I think I will wait until after tonight’s looming event. He is deep in thought as his gaze has me frozen and mesmerized while we sit on the island in the middle of the kitchen.”
Published by Newman Springs Publishing, Emily May’s intriguing tale is told from the point of view of a pair of couples. Sunny and Jake are the epitome of opposites attracting; she owns an art gallery and he’s a big city lawyer. The two are madly in love and trying to expand their family with a baby. Luca and Sarah, on the other hand, are on the verge of divorce. Sarah yearns for Luca’s attention, but he can’t stop his wandering eyes.
The two couples intersect on the night of the class reunion. Sunny has been dreading the occasion, but Jake has talked her into going, believing it will be a fun night out with friends. Luca makes a promise to Sarah that he will be better, but Sarah catches him up to his old tricks when Luca lays eyes on Sunny. Following unforeseen circumstances, their four lives intertwine together, setting off a chain of events that will change all of their trajectories. Will love be able to overcome?

James Geil’s Memoir Recalls a 1960s Boyhood in East Pakistan
Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk
James Geil has published a memoir recounting his boyhood years in what was then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, during the early 1960s. "Tales from East Pakistan": Boyhood Memories of Living Overseas is drawn from Geil’s own recollections of growing up overseas and traveling through South Asia, the Middle East and Europe during that period, according to the announcement.
Geil spent 35 years teaching nautical science at Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, a boarding school with a maritime program, where he also captained the Tabor Boy, the school’s 92-foot training vessel. He took up writing after retiring from that career, according to the announcement.
The book centers on Geil’s childhood exposure to the region’s cultures and historic sites during a period of significant geopolitical change in South Asia, in the years before East Pakistan’s 1971 split from Pakistan and emergence as independent Bangladesh. "My memories of those formative years abroad remained vivid throughout my career, and I felt compelled to preserve them for future generations," Geil said in the announcement. "I hope readers will find in these pages a window into a remarkable period of global history and the transformative nature of cross-cultural experience."
The book is published through Newman Springs Publishing and is available at bookstores and through major online retailers including Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play and Barnes & Noble.
Studio CarryOnHarry sees this as part of a steady stream of personal memoirs finding an audience among readers drawn to firsthand accounts of a world, and a region, that looked very different six decades ago.

Richard A. Chrismer’s New Memoir Traces Path From Orphanage to Vietnam Service to the Missouri Statehouse
Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk
Richard A. Chrismer has published a new memoir, "Reflections on Life: From Orphanage to Military and Beyond," tracing his path from an orphaned childhood through military service in Vietnam and into a career in Missouri state politics. The book is out now through Newman Springs Publishing.
According to the announcement, Chrismer spent part of his childhood in an orphanage before going on to serve three tours of duty in Vietnam with the Air Force, where he was decorated with multiple Bronze and Silver service stars. He later served as a Missouri State Representative, where the announcement credits him with championing veterans’ benefits and authoring a state tax cut described as record-breaking.
The memoir covers that arc directly, according to the publisher’s description, moving from the hardship of his early years through his military record and into his legislative work. It also turns to his personal life, including his marriage to Mary and his four children, framing those relationships as central to the story he wanted to tell.
"My intention in writing this book was to share how my life has been touched by others and how I, in turn, have affected those I have met along my journey," Chrismer said in the announcement. "I hope these reflections will inspire readers to recall their own moments of connection and to recognize the profound impact they have had on those around them."
The publisher frames the work as exploring how personal significance is measured not by individual accomplishment but by one’s impact on others, a theme it says runs through Chrismer’s accounts of encounters with both political figures and ordinary people over his decades in public service.
"Reflections on Life: From Orphanage to Military and Beyond" is available now through major booksellers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, and the Apple iTunes Store, as well as directly through Newman Springs Publishing.
Studio CarryOnHarry is interested in how Chrismer’s legislative record, particularly the veterans’ benefits work, holds up against the broader story of Vietnam-era veterans entering state politics in the decades after their service.
