The Magpie Film Company Tosses It’s Hat Into the Short Form Video Arena

The company stated that, although it does not seek to emulate these companies in regard to content or style, the pure insight of “the fact that audiences are now used to being able to watch the first few minutes of a show before making up their mind” and the strong “level of commitment needed to watch an indie film.” has spurred the company into making their own films more accessible, while requiring less initial commitment from it’s audience.
“What we make is very different from what is offered by these new companies,” Gusts stated, “But if any film company wants to get it’s movies seen, it has to take into account that Movie theaters and even streaming television counts for only a fraction of the platforms where people watch movies.”
The company stated that although it will still produce original indie films, adding short form to their line up will give their audience a chance to discover more true gems that they can watch while on the go.

Author Lisa Doucette has published "Fatty, You Broke My Tire Swing!", a children’s book drawn from a painful memory of her own childhood, through Christian Faith Publishing.
The story follows a young girl named Lisa who climbs onto a tire swing expecting an afternoon of fun. A fall and a cruel remark from another child instead leave her confused and hurt. With her sister’s help and her faith, she works through the experience and arrives at forgiveness.
Doucette is a wife, teacher, and mother of two sons who has said she experienced the incident firsthand as a child. "I experienced this hurtful event as a child, and rewriting this story with a redemptive ending has allowed me to truly forgive," she said in the announcement. "I believe that forgiveness is the way to heal, and I hope this book helps other children understand that truth."
The book is categorized as juvenile fiction and centers on themes of empathy, agency, and choosing one’s response to cruelty rather than controlling it. The publisher describes it as a tool for helping children navigate hurt and process it through kindness rather than retaliation.
"Fatty, You Broke My Tire Swing!" is available at bookstores and through Apple Books, Amazon, Google Play, and Barnes & Noble.
