Three Oklahoma Ranch Sisters Publish Cookbook Pairing Family Recipes with Scripture

Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk

A cookbook about feeding cowboys on a southwest Oklahoma cattle ranch has been published by three sisters who grew up with that work. "Grub and Grace: A Ranch Family Cookbook," written by Kealey Turner, Kylie McClusky, and Kynlee Waters, is now available in paperback, running 122 pages, through Christian Faith Publishing.

The three are daughters of Eric and Chy Waters, founders of Waters Cattle Co., and according to the authors, they learned to cook out of necessity: feeding ranch hands during the demanding stretches of branding and shipping season. The book draws directly on that experience, pairing family recipes with Scripture and short anecdotes about life in a working ranch household.

Each sister brought a different role to the project, the announcement states. Kealey, the eldest, focuses on baking and homemaking. Kylie, the middle sister and an Oklahoma State University graduate who runs two small businesses, handled the photography throughout the book. Kynlee, the youngest, contributes her background in ranch work and outdoor life. The authors stated together, "We wanted to create something that truly reflects who we are as a family", adding that they hope readers will use the book to "cook together, laugh together, and grow closer to God."

The publisher describes the project as pairing practical, usable recipes with the family’s faith and ranching background rather than functioning as a standard recipe collection. "Grub and Grace" is available through bookstores and online retailers including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Google Play, and the Apple iTunes Store, as well as directly through Christian Faith Publishing.

Studio CarryOnHarry sees this as part of a steady stream of faith-and-lifestyle titles reaching readers outside the traditional publishing pipeline, and it’s worth watching whether family-driven projects like this one find an audience beyond their immediate community.

Children’s Book “My Dog Hank” Tells a Family’s Story Through a Kid’s-Eye View of Their Dog

Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk

Jason Grove has released "My Dog Hank," a children’s picture book narrated from a child’s point of view about life with a family dog who’s, as the opening line puts it, always up to something. The book is published through Christian Faith Publishing.

According to the Google Books listing, the story is told in the kid’s own voice, cataloguing Hank’s antics, the occasional disagreements he causes between Mommy and Daddy, and the simple fact that he’s been part of the family for as long as the young narrator can remember. The book is categorized as juvenile fiction.

Having entertained his own children with imaginative tales for years, Grove sought to capture that family dynamic in written form. "I wanted to share the adventures that make our family life so vibrant and entertaining," he said. "Hank isn’t just a pet; he’s a character in our everyday story, and I’m thrilled to introduce him to readers everywhere." The publisher describes the book as centered on companionship and the bond between a child and a pet, with Hank framed as a dog any kid would be lucky to have.

"My Dog Hank" is available in paperback and through major online retailers including Amazon, Apple iTunes, Google Play, and Barnes and Noble.

Studio CarryOnHarry sees a familiar but durable formula here: the family pet as supporting character in a child’s narration. Books built around that premise tend to find their audience less through marketing than through parents reading them aloud more than once.

Army Veteran Yolanda V. Wright Releases Faith-Based Devotional Journal

Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk

Yolanda V. Wright has released a new devotional journal, "Matters of the Heart That Change the Game," published through Christian Faith Publishing, according to an announcement from the publisher.

The book is structured around nine themes Wright identifies as central to spiritual life: faith, prayer, vision, perspective, love, peace, joy, growth, and purpose. Each entry combines Scripture passages with space for personal reflection, intended for use during quiet time, in small groups, or for individual spiritual development. The announcement frames the book as a guide for readers to examine their own motives and emotional state as part of aligning with what Wright describes as God’s purpose for their lives.

Wright spent more than 23 years in the Army before founding Gamechanger Logistics & Consulting LLC, a company she built around resilience and leadership development work. Under that company, she also runs Gamechanger Resilience, a division focused on helping individuals and organizations build self-awareness and navigate transitions, and the Gamechanger Mentorship Retreat, aimed at young women from underserved communities. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and an Executive MBA, and is a Florida native now based, per the release, in Fulshear, Tennessee.

In remarks accompanying the release, Wright noted that journaling has remained a consistent practice throughout the various phases of her life. "My heart’s desire is to offer others that same refuge," she said, "a place where they can capture their own matters of the heart, honor their questions, and encounter God’s faithfulness in the written word."

The publisher describes the book as drawing on Wright’s personal journals, which she has called mirrors of her own growth. It’s being positioned less as a traditional read-through title and more as a long-term companion piece, meant to be returned to across different periods of a reader’s life.

"Matters of the Heart That Change the Game" is available through Christian Faith Publishing’s website, as well as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, and Google Play. Studio CarryOnHarry will be curious to see whether Wright’s military and mentorship background draws readers beyond the devotional market she’s writing directly into.
