Obinna Ubani-Ebere’s New Book, “Self-Serving Public Leadership and Governance,” Examines How Corruption and Failed Leadership Have Kept African Nations from Advancement
“Leadership matters in everything,” writes Ubani-Ebere. “Shared humanity is at risk of paralysis if the society lacks trustable, transparent, and accountable leadership for the well-being of the society. A nation is nothing but a perishable commodity if it lacks leadership foresight or vision and continually stands on a blind spot of political, social, and economic development. Government is an asset if it has utility or values that impact citizens positively and improve their well-being or livelihood. In contrast, the government is a total liability or lacks utility or values if its actions impede unity, progress, and development or undermine citizens’ well-being.

Moreover, corruption is a consequence of self-serving leadership and governance in African countries, demolishing hopes, aspirations, and ingenuity. Thus, public corruption in African countries is the great conspiracy against innocent and poor citizens by the politicians, elites, and religious aristocrats, causing obstacles to development.
“Consequently, there is a high possibility of political, economic, and social failures or marginalization of the poor when a nation’s political governance is besieged by sit-tight leadership syndrome, self-serving leaders, greedy mindsets, and corrupt leaders. Here are the two critical questions: Can African countries escape paralysis, meltdowns, or extreme poverty if the government is controlled by self-serving public leaders who focus on themselves while ignoring the challenges of the larger society? Can African countries survive the mediocrity of governance and frequent devastations due to the menace of religion, tribalism, and corruption in government, public leadership, and governance?”

Greg Stuart, a lifelong resident of St. Louis, has published his debut novel, "Lifeline," a suspense thriller centered on a man who can deliver messages from the recently deceased to their grieving families.
The book follows Damian Hunter, who gains this ability after a near-death experience, per the press release. For a time, the gift serves as a source of comfort for families who receive final words from lost loved ones. The story turns when Hunter is given a narrow window to deliver a message to what the announcement describes as one of the most feared people in the country. He sets out on the errand uncertain whether he can even be believed, let alone survive the attempt, with what the publisher describes as time running out and opposition closing in.
"Lifeline" was released by Newman Springs Publishing for purchase at retail locations and digital platforms including Apple iBooks, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble. No detailed author biography accompanied the announcement beyond Stuart’s St. Louis roots and this being his first novel.

New Book from Relationship Coach Kat O’Connor Tackles the Everyday Friction of Blended Families

Kat O’Connor, a relationship coach who has spent more than a decade working with singles, couples and blended families, has released a new guide for stepparents, "Life in the Blender: A Stepparent’s Guide to Blending a Family," published through Newman Springs Publishing.
The book is aimed at a specific, common problem: what happens after the wedding, when two households and two sets of family habits are supposed to become one. O’Connor’s book focuses on the friction points that tend to come up in that process, including loyalty conflicts between children and parents, disagreements over household boundaries, and communication breakdowns between stepparents and stepchildren, according to the announcement.
O’Connor holds a degree in sociology and is a certified relationship coach. The announcement also draws on her own history: a divorce in 2006, nine years as a single parent, and the formation of her own blended family in 2019. The publisher describes the book as combining that personal experience with her coaching background, working through real-world scenarios rather than abstract advice.
"My mission has always been to help families transition from conflict and confrontation back to communication and conversation," O’Connor said in the announcement. "This book represents years of coaching experience combined with my personal journey through blended family life, and I hope it becomes an invaluable companion for anyone seeking to build a stronger, more connected household."
According to the publisher, the book walks through strategies for building trust across family lines, setting boundaries, and developing relationships between stepparents and stepchildren, with the stated aim of helping readers move from tension toward what the announcement calls a more cohesive family unit. It’s worth noting the title has been used before: a 2006 memoir by singer Sandi Patty, also called "Life in the Blender," covered similar territory about blended families from a personal and faith-based perspective, though it’s a separate, unrelated book.
