About Featured Author :

Daniel Farcas is a multi-talented individual with various achievements to his credit. Apart from being the author of the book “God’s Buried Children,” he has excelled in academia and research. He was honored with the Outstanding Scholarship, Research, and Participation award from the West Virginia Association of Graduate Schools in April 2015 at Shepherd University, WV. Farcas was also awarded honorary citizenship of Morgantown by Mayor Marti Shamberger and President Gordon Gee on May 12, 2016, at the WVU Erickson Alumni Center.

Furthermore, Farcas has made significant contributions to the field of industrial hygiene, receiving the Fellows SIG Best Student Poster and Protective Clothing and Equipment Committee Best Student Poster from the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo (AIHce EXP) in May 2019. His outstanding achievements in both academia and research are a testament to his dedication and passion for knowledge and excellence.

God’s Buried Children by Daniel Farcas is a powerful and deeply moving memoir that offers a first-hand account of the atrocities committed by the communist regime in Romania during the 1980s. The book tells the story of Farcas’ childhood in an orphanage and his eventual escape from the brutal and oppressive regime of Nicolae Ceausescu.

Farcas’ writing is raw and unflinching as he describes the unimaginable horrors he experienced and witnessed as a child in the orphanage. He describes the severe neglect and abuse that he and the other children endured, including starvation, beatings, and isolation. The book also sheds light on the psychological toll of institutionalization and the long-term effects of childhood trauma on mental health.

One of the most striking aspects of Farcas’ memoir is his ability to convey the complex emotions he experienced as a child in the orphanage. Despite the constant abuse and neglect, Farcas writes about moments of happiness and hope that he and the other children experienced, such as playing games and dreaming of a better future. These moments of joy and resilience make the trauma and suffering all the more poignant.

As Farcas grows older and eventually escapes from the orphanage, the book takes on a new dimension. Farcas describes the challenges he faced in adapting to life outside of the institution, including the difficulty of forming meaningful relationships and trusting others. He also confronts the painful memories of his past and grapples with the question of how to heal from the trauma he experienced.

One of the most powerful themes of God’s Buried Children is the idea of resilience in the face of adversity. Despite the overwhelming odds stacked against him, Farcas never loses his spirit or his determination to survive. His story serves as a reminder of the strength and resilience of the human spirit, even in the darkest of times.

Overall, God’s Buried Children is a gripping and unforgettable memoir that offers a harrowing account of life under an oppressive regime. Farcas’ writing is honest, raw, and deeply moving, making this a must-read for anyone interested in the history of Romania, the impact of institutionalization on children, or the resilience of the human spirit in the face of trauma.
