Christopher Watkins Returns to the World of ‘The Covington Mansion’ with New Mystery-Horror Novel ‘Garble’

Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk

Christopher Watkins has published "Garble," a mystery-horror novel billed as a standalone sequel to his earlier book "The Covington Mansion." The new novel, published through Page Publishing, follows Gabriel Parsons, a recovering alcoholic whose wife, Megyn, was killed a decade earlier in an unsolved bombing.

According to the book’s synopsis, the case was ruled death by foul play but went cold, with investigators left only theories and no definitive leads. That changes when Matthew Collins, a character returning from "The Covington Mansion," tells Gabriel that Megyn’s death was not an accident but a premeditated murder. The claim upends Gabriel’s understanding of his wife, described in the synopsis as well-liked and without enemies, and sends him into what the publisher describes as a descent into his own investigation.

Watkins is also the author of "Exposure." According to the announcement, he began writing at age eight and had written his first books by thirteen, later studying under Teresa Miller, founder of the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers, during his time at Oklahoma State University.

In a statement, Watkins remarked: "I set out to create a narrative that conveys the mental anguish of unresolved mysteries and the extremes people pursue when chasing answers and peace."

The publisher describes "Garble" as an examination of grief, obsession and the search for closure after unresolved tragedy. The novel is available through Page Publishing’s website, as well as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple’s iTunes Store and Google Play.

Studio CarryOnHarry will be curious to see whether returning to the Parsons family storyline builds on the earlier novel’s audience or stands fully on its own for new readers.

Author Aileen Gebe Releases Memoir on Grief and Self-Reclamation, “The Ember Remembers”

Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk

Aileen Gebe has published "The Ember Remembers," a memoir drawn from her own experience of loss and the process of rebuilding a sense of self afterward. The book is out now through Page Publishing.

According to the book’s own description, Gebe frames the work not as a conventional story but as a way of sharing her experiences through what she calls the darkest moments of her life, and how she found her way back from them. The book is categorized under Body, Mind & Spirit, placing it alongside a broad shelf of grief memoirs and spiritual-recovery narratives that have found steady readerships in recent years, from Elena Ferrante’s fictionalized account of abandonment in "The Days of Abandonment" to nonfiction titles built around the same premise: that loss, closely examined, can become instructive rather than simply destructive.

Gebe describes her intent plainly. "My work is intended to help those who feel lost in the abyss of loss, regardless of what type, to find their inner light and to find their truth," she says in material accompanying the release. The announcement describes her background as centered on supporting others and seeking light during difficult periods, though specific biographical details beyond the book itself were not part of what was provided.

In a statement tied to the release, Gebe said she hopes readers who are in the middle of grief or despair will recognize their own capacity to come through it changed. "This work exists to remind you that your inner light is never truly extinguished," she said. "It simply waits for you to remember it."

"The Ember Remembers" is available through Page Publishing’s website, as well as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Google Play, and the Apple iTunes Store.

Studio CarryOnHarry sees this as one of a steady stream of personal grief memoirs arriving each year from independent and author-services presses, a category that rarely gets mainstream review attention but reliably finds its readers through word of mouth and shared experience.

Attorney Bonny Murphy Pairs Scripture with Her Mother’s Sayings in New Devotional

Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk

Bonny Murphy has written "A Proverb a Day (And Lessons I Learned from My Mother)," a thirty-one-day devotional published through Covenant Books that pairs verses from the biblical Book of Proverbs with personal stories and sayings from her own mother.

Each of the book’s thirty-one chapters centers on a verse drawn from the corresponding chapter of Proverbs, traditionally attributed to Solomon, then builds out from there with an anecdote from Murphy’s own life and a maternal saying meant to echo the same lesson in plainer, everyday terms. The structure sets up a running comparison between scriptural counsel and the kind of practical guidance passed down through family and community, in this case rooted in Murphy’s Guyanese upbringing.

Murphy was born in Buxton Village, Guyana, and says she became a Christian while a student at Queen’s College in Georgetown more than forty-five years ago. Upon relocating to the United States, Murphy first established herself as a high school educator teaching Spanish and French, then later pursued a career in legal practice. She now practices as an attorney specializing in child welfare in Washington, D.C.

"My prayer is that as readers engage with these proverbs and reflections, they will discover renewed strength for their faith journey and practical tools for navigating life’s complexities," Murphy said, according to the announcement.

Readers can access the devotional via Covenant Books’ online platform as well as major retailers including Amazon, Apple iTunes, Google Play, and Barnes and Noble.

Murphy’s book joins a crowded shelf of Proverbs-based devotionals, but the specific angle here, scripture read alongside a mother’s voice and a Guyanese upbringing, is what Studio CarryOnHarry sees as worth watching for readers who gravitate toward devotionals grounded in a particular family and cultural history rather than a general audience.
