Taking place throughout September, Detroit Month of Design 2023 will feature exhibitions and tours from legacy institutions alongside shows and symposia from up-and-coming makers.

Design Core Detroit is pleased to announce the 13th annual Detroit Month of Design, taking place September 1-30, 2023. This edition will feature over 80 events, including exhibitions, collaborative workshops, panel discussions and tours. Events will take place across Detroit and into the surrounding metro area at indoor, outdoor and virtual venues.

As the USA’s only UNESCO-designated Design City, Detroit models the future-facing creative potential of post-industrial cities that center collaboration. This year’s theme, “United by Design,” centers design strategies with the capacity to strengthen community resources and mutual aid. Focused on the theme of unity, this iteration will seek to cross-pollinate disciplines so a more collaborative and accessible world can emerge.

Detroit Month of Design’s programming highlights the city’s legacy as an innovator in the development of industrial fabrication, honoring Detroit’s prestigious design past while looking forward to its future as a hub for new practices and emerging technologies.

Featuring local breakthroughs in land use, sustainable fashion, modular fabrication and resource sharing, Design Core presents a vision of the new American city that is conscientious, sustainable and inclusive—ready to further the cultural landscape while engaging with this century’s defining issues.

“As we have seen in the years since the Month of Design began in 2011, Detroit is a key player in the world’s cultural and technological development,” said Kiana Wenzell, co-executive director of Design Core. “We are a well-positioned hub with a unique design history, which encompasses our city’s incredible array of historical and geographical influences. As Detroiters continue to innovate and reimagine their city’s rich industrial legacy, I suspect that we will see even greater attention and collaborative interest from design leaders around the world.”

Detroit Month of Design will highlight key players and districts from Detroit’s design legacy, exemplifying the city’s stake in design history and the role it has played in culture locally and globally.

Design Core Detroit champions design-driven businesses and their role in strengthening Detroit’s economy. It offers services to strengthen, grow and attract design businesses, increase market demand for design services and tells Detroit’s design story locally and globally. Design Core is the steward of Detroit’s UNESCO City of Design designation and is part of the College for Creative Studies.

Brighter Suns Presents Next Release: “Easier Than That”

Brighter Suns Presents Next Release: “Easier Than That”

San Francisco, CA, September 17, 2025 –(CarryOnHarry.com)– Check out the 8th track being released by the luminous alternative indie trio, Brighter Suns.

Easier Than That is a melodic pop song that evokes the alternatives to pain-points endured while in the throes of a disintegrating relationship. From the standard Brighter Suns playbook, an unconventional piano rhythmic phrase forms the foundation of a moving verse that leads to a straight-ahead, call and response chorus that draws the listener into the title refrain.

The track exhibits an emotional vocal performance that resonates with the underlying message that questions when it’s time to relinquish our attachments and move on. It’s another strong addition to the trio’s catalog with intriguing instrumentation, engaging guitar work, and a vibe that wraps the listener in the lyrical concept.

Led by seasoned keyboardist, composer, and vocalist Ken Barsky, Brighter Suns features veteran percussionist Scott Wild, and distinguished bassist and guitarist Paul Britt.

Easier Than That continues to display Brighter Suns’ live performance feel, drawing from a wide spectrum of alternative rock and pop groups while still producing something fresh and original.

As Brighter Suns continues to release tracks from their newly minted catalog of original material through a song-by-song rollout, Easier Than That will be released 9/29/25.
