Eric Pavlik’s New Book, “Fight for Survival: The Becoming of a Man,” Follows a Prince Who Must Save His Father and Learn All He Can About His Country in Order to Save It

Pavlik shares, “Tad awakens and goes downstairs to his father’s study. As he sits down in a chair, his father begins to tell him he is dying and doesn’t know why. He tells him how his brother, Luther, helped the Dark One invade their kingdom.
“At the age of sixteen, his dad had to lead his people into battle. They fought very hard, but there were to many goblins and trolls. Then the men in black and his army came from the swamps and helped save their kingdom.
“Tad sets out with Kentrel, the captain of the Royal army. As he searches for a cure for his father, he realizes he knows nothing about the land or its subjects. He knows he must learn quick on how to survive. During his journey, Tad develops feelings for a girl that is half elf.
“He meets a knight who is wanted for treason. He finds himself being saved from the slave runners by three brothers who are on their own quest to find their family.
“Tad soon finds that they are about to be invaded again. This time by men and dragons who want the precious metals that are deep in the Dwarven Mountains. They are summoned by Tad’s father, the king, to a counsel to prepare for the invasion. Where he meets Bash of the ogres, Grundy of the dwarfs, Natharal of the elves, and Thunder of the centaurs. He learns about a giant named Bill. As he battles the invaders, he learns how to fight and trust in his instincts. He learns that the black dragon, the biggest and strongest, is trying to kill the gold dragon and her eggs. As Tad looks out at the battlefield, he realizes he has become a man. He’s fallen in love, gained some brothers. Now he needs to survive this last battle so the brothers can go find their family.”

Suzanne Hobbs’s latest release through Page Publishing, "The Sleepy Snake: A Perfect Bedtime Story," chronicles a weary serpent moving through various locations seeking an ideal sleeping spot.
The book is a follow-up to Hobbs’s debut, "The Hungry Snake," which introduced the same snake on a different kind of search: a hungry trek through a cast of curious animals in pursuit of the perfect meal. Where that first book ran on appetite, this one runs on exhaustion, with the snake encountering a series of unlikely resting spots before finding one that suits him.
Hobbs spent close to fourteen years as a television reporter and news anchor for NBC and CBS affiliates in Idaho, covering court and crime stories. According to the announcement, a case she covered in 2000 drew her into advocacy for Safe Haven laws, work that led to her own daughter’s adoption in 2003. The announcement describes that history as part of what shapes her writing now, including her attention to themes of safety and comfort for children.
"My hope is that children will see themselves in the sleepy snake’s journey," Hobbs said in the announcement. "This story celebrates the beauty of rest and encourages young readers to imagine their own cozy places where they can feel safe and peaceful."
Page Publishing markets the book as a bedtime resource designed to smooth the shift from being awake to sleeping, featuring invitations for young readers to envision their own creatures and peaceful locations in the story. Charles Zeigler, Jr., a certified management accountant with roughly five decades of experience in accounting and finance, has published "Basic Accounting Theory for Beginners or Those Thinking of a Career," a guide aimed at people weighing accounting as a profession or simply trying to understand how a company’s books work.
The book is built around a single teaching device: a fictional manufacturing company whose transactions readers follow for a full year, from the initial investment through closing the books at year’s end. According to the book’s description, that structure is meant to walk readers through the accounting equation, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and how financial statements come together, building the concepts from first principles rather than treating them as material to memorize for an exam.
Zeigler’s own career included work as an accountant, auditor, controller, and financial analyst, with a focus on industrial cost accounting, according to the announcement. He has worked across corporations in Michigan and California subsidiaries, and describes one formative experience installing new accounting systems into a company culture resistant to the change. That background, per the announcement, shaped his approach to explaining technical material in plain language.
The book also takes on a question aimed squarely at the undecided: accounting or finance. Zeigler lays out, in his own words, which certifications carry weight in the field, what realistic salary and growth trajectories look like, and the paths from staff-level roles up to controller or CFO. It closes with what the book’s description calls personal advice on what tends to separate people who succeed in the field from those who don’t.
"I wanted to create a resource that answers the questions I wish someone had addressed when I was beginning my career," Zeigler said in a statement accompanying the release. "This book demystifies accounting and gives readers the honest perspective they need to make an informed decision about their professional future."
