Luann Conaty’s Newly Released “Never a Choice” is an Impactful Memoir That Follows One Woman’s Journey to Understanding and Acceptance

She and her son, Andrew, have co-written this book about their journey together as mother and son through the travails of his life as a gay man. Luann was editing her final updated chapter when the good Lord called her home.
Conaty shares, “Perhaps readers of this book still believe that homosexuality is perverted and evil. I understand all too well where people with those views are coming from. It has taken me many years to accept the idea that God accepts a union between two people of the same sex. No matter how anyone feels about this particular idea, the important thing to remember is that we must stop condemning and start loving.
“My journey to understanding is not over. I want to keep on growing and learning, but I hope that some of what I have learned can be helpful to others who are struggling to understand and to accept.
“This book includes a great deal of my spiritual philosophy because that is an important part of my story and an integral part of who I am. However, I believe that because I started with so many firmly entrenched misconceptions about homosexuality and because my religious training was so rigidly anti-gay, my journey was longer and more painful than it needs to be for many others.
“If someone who started out as an ‘Anita Bryant clone’ can eventually march in a gay pride parade carrying a sign, ‘We love our gay kids,’ there’s hope for anyone!”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Luann Conaty’s new book will tug at the heartstrings and bring a real journey of faith to light.

Reginald J. Lise, Sr., a Fayetteville, North Carolina-based scriptural scholar, has released a new book titled "From Prototype to Presentation," published through Christian Faith Publishing. The book is available now in print and digital formats through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the author’s page on the publisher’s website.
The book’s central argument, according to the announcement, is that the early chapters of Genesis function less as straightforward history and more as a kind of theological blueprint. Lise frames Adam and Eve as a "prototype" — an initial model of union, identity, and dominion meant to be tested and eventually perfected — and traces that idea forward through what the announcement calls the Old Testament’s years of spiritual longing, arriving at Jesus Christ as the "Second Adam" and the Holy Spirit as the Church’s helper.
"Every generation from the Garden onward has been a rehearsal of faith, failure, and longing," Lise said in the announcement. "I wrote this book to invite readers into a deeper understanding of biblical mystery — to show that the fall was never final, but rather the ultimate setup for divine glory and restoration through Christ."
According to the announcement, the book extends beyond traditional biblical exposition to address topics including the spiritual nature of marriage, what it calls the "hidden years" of prophetic silence between the Old and New Testaments, and the intersection of spiritual transformation with neuroscience. The announcement positions it as intended for pastors and ministry leaders as well as general readers interested in covenant theology.

Broward County Court Judge Woody R. Clermont has picked up two national literary honors for his historical nonfiction book, "The Golden Mansaic Age: The Legendary Malian Empire," which was named a 2026 Distinguished Favorite by the NYC Big Book Award and a 2026 Finalist in the African American Nonfiction category of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, according to the announcement.
The book centers on Mansa Musa, the 14th-century Malian emperor whose pilgrimage to Mecca became legendary for the sheer volume of gold he carried across the Sahara, a journey said to have affected economies as far away as Cairo and Venice. Drawing on chronicles, oral tradition, and archaeology, the book also traces Sundiata Keita’s founding of the Mali Empire, the rise of Timbuktu as a center of manuscripts and scholarship, and the empire’s eventual decline under Songhai and, later, Moroccan forces. Reader reviews posted to Google Books describe it as weaving oral histories and archaeological research into a narrative-driven account of the empire’s wealth, religion, and politics.
"History becomes more meaningful when we recognize the contributions of civilizations that have too often been overlooked," Clermont said in the announcement. "The Mali Empire reminds us that Africa has a remarkable history of scholarship, economic innovation, leadership, and cultural achievement."
Clermont, who in 2018 became the first Haitian-American male elected to judicial office in Broward County, has published more than 40 books through his own imprint, Woody Clermont Book Publications, covering subjects from law and economics to philosophy and fiction. His educational credentials span ten earned degrees, among them a law degree and a graduate degree in theology from Liberty University completed recently, and he continues advanced study toward a doctoral degree focused on organizational development and innovation. Past recognition for his writing has come from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association, The BookFest, and the Eric Hoffer Book Awards, among others.
The NYC Big Book Award distinction will be marked at the organization’s 2027 awards gala in the New York City area on April 10, 2027.
