Netflix UK Debuts Full ‘Twilight’ Franchise and ‘Dune: Part Two’ in Major Content Drop
Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk
This week’s Netflix UK refresh includes all five "Twilight" installments alongside Denis Villeneuve’s "Dune: Part Two," part of a 53-item slate comprising 36 films and 17 television series.
For the first time recently, Netflix UK now hosts the complete "Twilight" saga in one location: "Twilight" (2008), "New Moon" (2009), "Eclipse" (2010) and both parts of "Breaking Dawn" (2011, 2012). The franchise, adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s novels, made stars of Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, whose career since has spanned studio blockbusters and independent films, including a Time 100 mention in 2010 and a body of work that has grossed billions worldwide. These five installments shaped teen cinema of their generation, and their unified availability now allows UK viewers to experience the entire narrative arc on a single platform.
"Dune: Part Two," meanwhile, brings Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel to the platform less than two years after its 2024 theatrical release. The film continues Paul Atreides’ story as he joins Chani and the Fremen against the forces that destroyed his family, with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya starring. The film has already reached position 15 on Netflix UK’s movies rankings just days after arriving on the service, with further movement expected as the weekend approached.
The broader slate touches several genres and languages: French comedy "Call My Agent! The Movie" closes out that series’ run, alongside new arrivals including "Fauda" season five, "Physical 100: Italy" and Tyler Perry’s "Why Did I Get Married Again?" The latter title debuted at number eight on the platform’s movie chart in its first week, the announcement noted, with the sports documentary "Untold Mr. T: I Pity The Fool" close behind at number seven. Top of the chart was "The Whisper Man," followed by the documentary "Turning Point: Generation 9/11."
For Studio CarryOnHarry, the more interesting story here isn’t the blockbuster addition but the licensing pattern: pairing a two-year-old theatrical hit with a seventeen-year-old franchise suggests platforms are increasingly using nostalgia libraries to anchor subscriber attention around newer, splashier arrivals.

From 230 Films to a Daughter’s Words: Celebrating Kamal Haasan

A Birthday That Belongs to Indian Cinema
Kamal Haasan marked his 72nd birthday this week, and the celebrations went far beyond cake and candles. For decades, the veteran actor, director, and producer has redefined what it means to be a filmmaker in India — and his birthday became a moment for fans, colleagues, and family alike to reflect on that extraordinary legacy.
His younger daughter, Aksharaa Haasan, led the tributes with a heartfelt message on social media, describing her father simply as an inspiration — a word that feels almost understated given the scale of his contributions to Indian cinema.
230+ Films and Counting: The Numbers Behind the Legend
Kamal Haasan’s filmography spans more than 230 projects across multiple languages, making him one of the most prolific and versatile talents the subcontinent has ever produced. His work cuts across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and beyond — a rare achievement in an industry often divided by regional lines.
India has selected his films as its official entry for the Academy Awards on no fewer than seven occasions, a record that speaks volumes about the international regard for his craft. Few artists anywhere in the world can claim that kind of sustained recognition on the global stage.
Awards and State Honours
- Padma Shri — awarded by the Government of India
- Padma Bhushan — India’s third-highest civilian honour, which Kamal Haasan reportedly described as an impetus to do even greater work
- Multiple National Film Awards across acting and writing categories
- Seven official Indian Oscar submissions — an unmatched benchmark in Bollywood and regional cinema combined
Aksharaa Haasan: A Daughter’s Pride
Aksharaa Haasan, born in October 1991, has carved her own path in the entertainment world, choosing a direction distinct from the conventional star-kid route. Her birthday message for Kamal Haasan was brief but deeply personal, cutting through the noise of industry formality to speak simply about the man who shaped her worldview.
That kind of tribute — quiet, genuine, and unscripted — perhaps says more about Kamal Haasan’s character off-screen than any award citation ever could.
Why This Milestone Matters Right Now
In a landscape where Bollywood’s top stories are increasingly dominated by franchise announcements and OTT premieres, Kamal Haasan’s 72nd birthday is a timely reminder that singular creative vision still commands unmatched respect. His influence extends across generations of filmmakers and actors who cite him as a primary reference point.
For comprehensive entertainment industry coverage tracking how legends like Haasan continue to shape modern Indian cinema, the conversation is very much ongoing.

Salman Khan on His Biopic: ‘It Could Sink Reputations’

Salman Khan on His Biopic: ‘My Story Could Sink a Lot of Reputations’
Studio CarryOnHarry Entertainment Desk | 7 November 2026Salman Khan Breaks Silence on a Biopic of His Life
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has made headlines once again — this time, not for an upcoming release or a box office record, but for a candid and startling admission about the prospect of a biopic on his own life.
Speaking at a promotional event in Mumbai, the actor stated plainly that his life story carries enough weight — and enough controversy — to damage the reputations of several well-known individuals. His exact words left little to the imagination: there are chapters in his life that the world simply isn’t ready for.
Maatrubhumi: His Current Focus Is the Galwan Story
Before the biopic conversation could spiral further, Salman was quick to redirect attention to his current project. Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is a military action drama rooted in the events of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash — the deadly confrontation between Indian and Chinese forces along the disputed border in Ladakh.
The film is reportedly one of the most ambitious patriotic productions to emerge from Bollywood in recent years, drawing on the bravery of Indian Army personnel who faced down aggression at the Line of Actual Control. Salman described the project as deeply personal and historically significant.
No Government Interference, Says Salman
Amid swirling speculation that political or governmental pressure might alter the film’s narrative, Salman was unequivocal in his denial. He confirmed that the core story of Maatrubhumi remains intact and that no external forces have shaped or softened its content.
This assurance will likely come as a relief to fans tracking Bollywood’s top stories, many of whom have watched sensitive patriotic films navigate choppy political waters in the past.
A Biopic That May Never Get Made — And Why That Matters
The biopic question, though swiftly sidestepped, remains the most compelling talking point from the event. Salman’s reluctance — or perhaps quiet refusal — to greenlight a film about his own extraordinary life speaks volumes about the complexity of his decades-long journey in the public eye.
From legal battles to blockbuster comebacks, from controversies to charitable work, Salman Khan’s story is one that the entertainment industry coverage landscape has long debated how to tell — if it ever can be told fully.
What Fans Are Saying
- Many supporters believe a Salman biopic would be unmissable cinema
- Others argue the legal sensitivities alone make it near-impossible to produce
- The Galwan-based film, meanwhile, is generating significant pre-release buzz
Whether a biopic ever materialises or not, one thing is certain — Salman Khan remains one of the most compelling, complicated, and conversation-dominating figures in Indian cinema today.
