New Novel “Beyond The Twisted Tree” Follows a Woman Rebuilding After Loss

Maxine Electra has published a new novel, "Beyond The Twisted Tree," which follows a woman named Cori through the collapse of the secure life she once had and the unexpected path that opens up afterward, according to the announcement. The book is published through Fulton Books.
The story centers on Cori losing what she believed was a settled, contented existence, only to find that the loss itself sets her on a different course. The announcement describes a turning point in which Cori travels up a hill beyond a twisted tree and finds what the publisher calls "eternal happiness" on the other side, a narrative device that gives the book its title. A listing for the book categorizes it as juvenile fiction.
Electra lives in Arizona with her husband, dogs, and visiting children and grandchildren, and the announcement says her surroundings and her interest in music inform her writing. "I’ve always believed that life’s most difficult chapters often hold the seeds of our greatest joy," Electra said in the announcement. "Cori’s story reminds us that when one door closes, we must have the courage to look beyond the twisted trees and discover the wonders waiting on the other side."
The book is available at bookstores and through the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, and Barnes and Noble.
Studio CarryOnHarry sees these loss-to-transformation narratives as a steady presence in independently published fiction, and what distinguishes one from another is usually in the specifics of the character’s journey rather than the premise itself.
