Kindness is a virtue. The practice of deeds of kindness includes every kind of help: visiting the sick, comforting the mourners, helping the needy and making peace between brothers and sisters. In our story Golda the sheep takes kindness to the extreme when she offers her golden horns to others who make requests of her. We become more like God when we act lovingly and with kindness. Ethics of the Fathers says that the world is sustained by three things: the Law, the Temple service, and deeds of lovingkindness.
Ron Isaacs has published more than 130 books that make learning and lore easily accessible to readers of all ages and beliefs. His latest books for Higher Ground Books and Media include Moses and the Extra Ten, Oscar the Octopus: A Hanukkah Tale, Reba Loves Shabbat and The Song Heard Round the World. Kirsten (Stan) Kern, Ph.D., is a visual artist and educator based in Austin, Texas. She is recognized for her oil paintings of Caribbean marine life and the island seascapes of St. John USVI. She has fondness for painting turtle portraits, and sometimes people.

Author Daniel Kelsey has released "Hidden Treasures in Secret Places: The Simplicity of God’s Grace in the Love of Jesus Christ For the Children of God to Age 120," published through Christian Faith Publishing.
The book pairs nature photography, including images of flowers and skies, with biblical passages. According to the publisher, Kelsey uses these images alongside scripture to explore what the announcement describes as the depth of God’s blessings and grace.

Sonoma County Memoir “My Wine Country” Recounts Author Victor Sanchez Jr.’s Path Through Hardship

Victor Sanchez Jr. has published a memoir, "My Wine Country," drawing on his own upbringing in Sonoma County to describe a childhood marked by hardship and what the author describes as an eventual path toward stability. The book is out now through Page Publishing, available in bookstores and through major online retailers including Amazon, Apple iTunes, Google Play, and Barnes and Noble.
According to the announcement, the book traces Sanchez’s life from adolescence, when he began facing what the publisher describes as life’s most demanding challenges, through his later experience as a cancer survivor. Both periods, the announcement states, inform the book’s reflections on survival and endurance.
The publisher describes "My Wine Country" as both a personal memoir and a broader meditation on resilience, built around themes of loss, perseverance, and what the announcement calls the quiet joys that sustain people through difficult periods. Sanchez frames the project in personal terms. "This book represents my truth," he said in the announcement. "I wanted to share my story not just as a survivor, but as someone who learned that pain and joy are inseparable parts of what makes us human."
The setting is a specific one: Sonoma County, part of California’s wine country, a region more commonly associated in print with travel writing and vineyard guides than with memoirs of adolescent hardship. That contrast, between the postcard image of the region and the account Sanchez describes living through there, is part of what the book is positioned around.
Studio CarryOnHarry will be watching to see how Sanchez’s account of place complicates the wine country’s usual story.
