Meggan Barrett has published a new memoir, "Barn Side or Seaside," leveraging her extensive background as a pediatric and adult-care nurse working with patients facing significant health challenges. The book is out now through Newman Springs Publishing.

Barrett was born in Jamaica, the third of five children, and later immigrated to the United States, where she built a nursing career centered on vulnerable patients. According to the announcement, she spent eight years working with pediatric patients and twelve more with adults, experience she says shaped both her clinical understanding and her view of what families go through during a medical crisis.

The memoir, per the announcement, follows moments when a health crisis upends a family without warning, and the role that nurses, doctors, and caregivers play in what comes next.
