Ron Almquist’s New Novel Sends a Prophecy-Born Hybrid Prince Between Sea and Surface
Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk
Ron Almquist has published a new novel, "The Neptunian Hybrid Prince of Prophecy: A Mystical Topside Leagues Deep Tale A Deep-Sea Topside Story," a fantasy set in the ocean depths built around a five-thousand-year-old prophecy tied to Neptune.
The book is published through Fulton Books and is available in paperback, priced at $22.95, as well as through major digital retailers including Amazon, Apple’s iTunes Store, Google Play, and Barnes & Noble.
The story centers on a sea sovereign’s law barring contact between the underwater realm and the surface world. According to the publisher’s synopsis, that law is deliberately broken, and two people from separate worlds, chosen by fate, come together to produce a hybrid child: a half-royal prince capable of moving between both realms. The narrative follows the consequences of that violation and the prince’s role in fulfilling a prophecy set in motion long before his birth.
"Through this narrative, I sought to explore the intersection of destiny and choice, to ask what it means when an ancient law must be broken for a greater truth to emerge," Almquist said in the announcement. "The hybrid prince represents possibility itself: a bridge between worlds that were never meant to meet, yet always destined to collide."
Almquist’s background is in visual art rather than fiction. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from Drake University and has spent years as a member of The International Society of Marine Painters, Inc. His paintings, drawings, and sketches of maritime subjects have gone into commissioned and private collections across the Midwest and Florida, work the publisher’s materials describe as drawing out the overlooked detail in maritime scenes. His artistic sensibility developed through years of maritime painting infuses the narrative’s underwater depiction.

Studio CarryOnHarry sees this as part of a familiar pattern in genre fiction right now: prophecy narratives built around a hybrid figure who literally embodies the joining of two worlds. Whether Almquist’s painter’s eye for the sea gives this particular version a visual texture that sets it apart from others in the genre is something only readers who pick it up will be able to say.
