“The American Doctor,” by Salvatore Forcina, Available Now from Histria Books

Born in Italy during World War II, Salvatore Forcina was a young boy who survived all odds by living through his young childhood without any real or proper shelter. Like many Italians during this time, a month after turning eight years old, his parents followed this migration to Argentina, a developing country at the time rich with natural resources and hope for a more stable life.
Sent away to live with Redemptorist priests for seven long years as the only available option to study, this young boy struggled emotionally and psychologically with no social outlets and little emotional development. Salvatore’s dream to study medicine and help people propelled him to carry on and continue his education, eventually being educated and living on three different continents, each with a new language to learn and master. Despite his meager beginnings which provided no social and little educational opportunity and despite the many years and setbacks it took him to accomplish this, his goal was ultimately accomplished because of his sheer determination.
“The American Doctor” is a motivating, uplifting, true life story that shows what genuine love of family can do.
Dr. Salvatore J. Forcina, M.D. was born in Scauri, Italy in 1941. After immigrating to the United States, he embarked on a medical career. Dr. Salvatore Forcina, M.D. eventually became the Chief of Surgery at both Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ and Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus, NJ.

Leslie J. Weatherford has published a new children’s book, "Farmer Fuzzy Pants Goes to the Fair," which follows three boys, Matt, Mark, and Joey, through a week of raising and showing livestock at the county fair. The book is out now through Page Publishing.
The story centers on fair week itself: stalls that need cleaning daily, animals that need tending, and a tractor pull along the way, all building toward an auction where the boys’ months of work with their cows, pigs, and chickens get put to the test. According to the book’s description, one of the three, Joey, has specific plans for what he wants to do with his earnings, but has to prove he’s put in the work before the bidding starts. The book is categorized as juvenile fiction and draws on real details of fair life, from animal tagging to auction-day bidding, to give young readers a sense of what livestock competition actually involves.
Weatherford, drawing on her Michigan heritage, started creating children’s stories in 2024 following her experience as a parent. "Farmer Fuzzy Pants Goes to the Fair" is her recent release under Page Publishing.
"I wanted to create a story that shows children how hard work translates into real results," Weatherford said in a statement, adding that she hopes readers see Matt, Mark, and Joey’s journey as proof that showing up every day and caring for responsibilities pays off in ways that go beyond ribbons and trophies.
The book is available at bookstores and online through Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play, and Barnes & Noble.

Amanda Solomon has published a new novel, "Liberty," centered on a woman who relocates to Laguna Beach, California, to put a painful past behind her and start over. The book is available now through Page Publishing, in bookstores and through major online retailers including Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play, and Barnes & Noble.
According to the book’s description, the protagonist’s fresh start takes an unexpected turn when she meets Duncan, who becomes a close confidant. Their relationship gradually surfaces secrets tied to her past, a thread that drives the novel’s central tension between forgetting and reckoning with what came before. An audiobook edition has also been released, running just over four hours and narrated by Olivia Liebe. The print edition runs 126 pages.
Solomon has said her interest in writing began with poetry in school, and she has pointed to Nicholas Sparks and Colleen Hoover as influences on her fiction, both known for relationship-driven, emotionally direct storytelling — a lineage that tracks with "Liberty"’s premise of self-discovery through friendship.
"This story is a deeply personal one," Solomon said in a statement, "and I hope it will inspire readers to embrace the power of resilience and the redemptive qualities of friendship."
Studio CarryOnHarry will be watching whether the audiobook, with a named narrator already attached, helps the book find an audience beyond the usual churn of small-press debut fiction.
