Anne Hope, an active in Christian ministry and a singer/songwriter from a small town in North Carolina, has completed her new book, “Bent Pages”: a personal account unfolding the moments in the author’s life which she considered as her bent corners. Found within the pages are the important moments that inspired and polished her growth as a woman.
Anne writes, “A psychiatrist friend once told me that he could gain a good understanding of how people become the individuals they are merely by having them write down their ten earliest memories. And, if he could then get those same people to write down their top ten most important decisions they have made in their lives, he felt he could gain a keen insight into what decisions they might need to make in the future to change the course of their lives for the better. I set out to examine those very memories and decisions for myself in Bent Pages.
From the time I was a child, one of my habits that drove others in my family crazy was to bend the corner of a page down on a book I was reading if it contained information I wanted to remember and look back on. It was easy to tell which books I had read and had been inspired by…there would be many bent corners. This book is a snapshot of the bent corners of pages in my life that have inspired and taught me. They are moments I never want to forget, even if painful. They have made me who I am. And I would not change that for the world!
But looking back can be a risk. It can be painful. It can dredge up things that you never wanted to think about again. But change is a decision, and I desperately wanted to change and make decisions wisely, even if it meant examining parts of my history that were painful or blurry. To my delight many memories also brought laughter and a new sense of appreciation for the difficulties we all face when growing up. We start out as children with it being ‘all about me,’ and we view our microcosms only through those myopic, child-like eyes. Yet, as we grow and mature, we are often able to view those experiences and the people involved in a whole new light…sometimes even as unexpected blessings.
God wired me specifically with certain talents, abilities, and personality traits when he knit me together in my mother’s womb. I have purpose. I can make an impact. I long to fulfill my role in his plan for history. I have discovered that I can make a difference, one person at a time, beginning with me. I have learned that God is indeed in control, even when life seems chaotic. I have learned that when I try to take back control of my life from God, I forfeit faith. I have learned that even one person, one decision, one act of obedience can catapult a life of insecurity and despair to ultimate joy, peace, and fulfillment in Christ.
Lastly, I have learned that I get to choose how I want to view those events that affected my life. I can choose to be a victim. I can choose to be angry. Or I can choose to be a victor…a person who chooses joy in seeing the gracious hand of God creating a beautiful symphony to share with others. I want to sing Him a love song…my life the melody. At times, this book is emotionally raw and heart-breaking, and at times it will make you laugh out loud…welcome to the adventure!”
Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Anne Hope’s new book is a solemn statement that everyone has a God-given purpose, no one is a wallflower in His big story.

Ryan Gregory has published "Blood on Canvas: Between Bells," a work of sports fiction that approaches professional boxing through the eyes of a coach rather than a fighter, according to the author’s publisher.
Gregory writes from inside the sport. He founded Cache Valley Boxing in his hometown of Logan, Utah, and organized the area’s first registered boxing event in 2019. His qualifications include USA Boxing Silver Level Coach status and Licensed Contestant Manager credentials, accumulated across approximately twenty years of coaching at both the amateur and professional level, per the announcement.
The book is described by its publisher as a departure from the familiar underdog arc that typically defines boxing stories. Instead, it follows a coach managing fighters’ egos, ambitions, and the business pressures that operate behind the scenes of the sport. The publisher’s description frames the novel as an attempt to show the mechanics of professional boxing, the decisions coaches are forced to make, and the gap between the sport’s public image and its day-to-day reality.
"My goal has always been to bring reality to the often fantasized world of boxing," Gregory said in a statement accompanying the release. "This book is my attempt to entertain readers while pulling back the curtain on how the business truly works, based on real events from my own experience."

Studio CarryOnHarry sees the coach’s-eye framing as the more interesting bet here: boxing fiction usually sits in the fighter’s corner, and a story told from the person throwing in the towel is a different kind of authenticity claim to test against the page.

New Novel Follows a South Carolina Man’s Obsession With a Cosmic Hum and a ‘Theory of the Universe’

W. H. Märchen has a new science fiction novel out, "Are You the One?", centered on Yaiouel "Yo" Elijah Johnson, a young man from Greenville, South Carolina, who becomes consumed by a mysterious cosmic hum only he seems to perceive. Studio CarryOnHarry received word of the release this week.
According to the announcement, Yo’s fixation grows into a search for what he calls a "theory of the universe" — a fractal model in which human consciousness mirrors a cosmic neural network, with past universes seeding new ones and minds echoing across galaxies. The novel sets that search against a backdrop of social fracture, with Yo’s perception positioned as a possible, if improbable, route back to collective connection.
Three companions join him along the way, per the announcement: Amelia, described as psychologically astute; Zahir, a spiritually grounded presence; and Tony, an ex-Navy drifter carrying his own unresolved history. The publisher describes the book as blending coming-of-age structure with existential questions about consciousness, loss, and survival.
Märchen spent roughly 25 years at the National Institutes of Health, working across research projects with scientists from multiple disciplines, and is a partially disabled U.S. Navy veteran holding degrees in electrical engineering and a master of science. Per the release, Märchen initially developed the story as a creative pursuit while recovering, and that his scientific background and respect for diverse faith traditions shaped the book’s handling of its spiritual and existential material.
"This book emerged from my desire to explore how science, spirituality, and human connection intersect," Märchen said in the announcement. "I wanted to ask whether our deepest perceptions of reality might be pointing us toward something we’ve overlooked."

A book pitched as hard science grounded in one man’s real research career, wrapped around a premise this cosmic, is an unusual combination — Studio CarryOnHarry is curious whether Märchen’s NIH background gives the novel’s speculative physics more weight than the average genre entry, or whether that’s beside the point for a story this interior.
