Janis Fountain, an animal lover to the core, has completed her new book, “Me”: a sweeping memoir following the chronicles in the life of a dog named Chelsea which was a victim of abuse since its birth. After being casted out by its abuser for being old and frail, Chelsea went under the hands of scam artists who then sold her for $400 to a woman named Janis Fountain. It was at that moment she realized that a brighter future awaits for her.
Janis writes, “I was nothing. Like so many more animals, tucked away from public view, hidden in hot garages, desolate locations and cages. I was nothing more than a money making machine. I was starved, neglected, void of kind, humane contact. My job was to produce a product that could reap the best rewards with very little investment. I had to produce beautiful and desirable, registered pups to be sold around the world to the highest bidder. As for me, I was disposable. I had to produce as many litters of pups as possible. When I could no longer produce what the owner wanted; my life was over or so I thought!”
Published by Covenant Books of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Janis Fountain’s new book is an emotionally resonant narrative that ponders on the importance of lending kindness not just to strangers but as well as to animals. The author hopes that through her work, a lot of people will open their hearts and homes to these furry friends.
Readers can purchase “Me” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, or Barnes and Noble.
