Author Christine Gacharná’s New Book, “Right My College Application Essay,” is an Effective Guide for Students Embarking on This New Style of Writing
[ad_1]
Back when reading news on paper was still a thing, Christine Gacharná was the editor-in-chief of her campus newspaper and founder of the Arizona Daily Wildcat online. She is an award-winning writer and photographer whose work has appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines nationwide as both a staff member and a freelancer. She holds a BA in English from Oregon State University and an MA in journalism from the University of Arizona and is a certified professional photographer.
For six years, she taught college essay writing to undergraduates at the University of Phoenix (Baton Rouge and New Orleans campuses) and, as lead faculty for communication, spearheaded campus policy and efforts to streamline the evaluation and assessment of student writing.
She is the founder and principal editor at ESSAY CURE, as well as a member in good standing of the Professional Photographers of America, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the Loudoun County (VA) Chamber of Commerce. She lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, Carlos, and their puppy, Aspen.
Gacharná writes, “Like all technical skills, it’s one thing to learn something conceptually and intellectually, but it’s another thing entirely to actually be able to perform it (and then it’s next-level to teach it, fun fact). The ‘Steps in the Righting Process’ are presented out of order in this workbook to force students out of their comfort zone of ‘sitting down to write a rough draft’ and instead show them how to physically orchestrate the invisible writing work of the thinking and the doing that is academic writing because the rough draft is actually created by working through the steps in the process.”
She continues, “Like unlearning a bad golf swing, it’s the ‘good writers’ who prove to be my biggest challenge in this work, as it takes persistence and a lot of work to convince these students to relax their standards of perfection and relearn the technique from a different mindset. Freewriting is designed to be approached with the reckless abandon needed to truly brain dump their ideas onto the page with a total disregard for mechanics. The greatest college application essays I’ve seen were born from a single sentence mined from a freewriting exercise.”
Published by Page Publishing, Christine Gacharná’s informative work shares her radically effective trademarked system of Communicate. Navigate. Punctuate to transform anxiety into a stress-free path to crafting a college application essay that helps high school seniors sell themselves to admissions officers, land acceptance letters, and earn scholarship offers to help them achieve their undergraduate dreams.
Readers who wish to experience this educational work can purchase “Right My College Application Essay” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.

Suzanne Hobbs Follows Up Debut Children’s Book with “The Sleepy Snake,” a Bedtime Sequel to “The Hungry Snake”
Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk
Suzanne Hobbs’s latest release through Page Publishing, "The Sleepy Snake: A Perfect Bedtime Story," chronicles a weary serpent moving through various locations seeking an ideal sleeping spot.
The book is a follow-up to Hobbs’s debut, "The Hungry Snake," which introduced the same snake on a different kind of search: a hungry trek through a cast of curious animals in pursuit of the perfect meal. Where that first book ran on appetite, this one runs on exhaustion, with the snake encountering a series of unlikely resting spots before finding one that suits him.
Hobbs spent close to fourteen years as a television reporter and news anchor for NBC and CBS affiliates in Idaho, covering court and crime stories. According to the announcement, a case she covered in 2000 drew her into advocacy for Safe Haven laws, work that led to her own daughter’s adoption in 2003. The announcement describes that history as part of what shapes her writing now, including her attention to themes of safety and comfort for children.
"My hope is that children will see themselves in the sleepy snake’s journey," Hobbs said in the announcement. "This story celebrates the beauty of rest and encourages young readers to imagine their own cozy places where they can feel safe and peaceful."
Page Publishing markets the book as a bedtime resource designed to smooth the shift from being awake to sleeping, featuring invitations for young readers to envision their own creatures and peaceful locations in the story. It’s available through Page Publishing’s site, Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play and Barnes & Noble.
Studio CarryOnHarry notes the pairing of the two titles is a clean bit of franchise-building for a picture-book character: one book built around hunger, the other around rest, covering two of the most reliable parts of a child’s daily routine.

New Book from Fifty-Year Accounting Veteran Charles Zeigler Jr. Aims to Demystify the Profession for Beginners
Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk
Charles Zeigler, Jr., a certified management accountant with roughly five decades of experience in accounting and finance, has published "Basic Accounting Theory for Beginners or Those Thinking of a Career," a guide aimed at people weighing accounting as a profession or simply trying to understand how a company’s books work.
The book is built around a single teaching device: a fictional manufacturing company whose transactions readers follow for a full year, from the initial investment through closing the books at year’s end. According to the book’s description, that structure is meant to walk readers through the accounting equation, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and how financial statements come together, building the concepts from first principles rather than treating them as material to memorize for an exam.
Zeigler’s own career included work as an accountant, auditor, controller, and financial analyst, with a focus on industrial cost accounting, according to the announcement. He has worked across corporations in Michigan and California subsidiaries, and describes one formative experience installing new accounting systems into a company culture resistant to the change. That background, per the announcement, shaped his approach to explaining technical material in plain language.
The book also takes on a question aimed squarely at the undecided: accounting or finance. Zeigler lays out, in his own words, which certifications carry weight in the field, what realistic salary and growth trajectories look like, and the paths from staff-level roles up to controller or CFO. It closes with what the book’s description calls personal advice on what tends to separate people who succeed in the field from those who don’t.
"I wanted to create a resource that answers the questions I wish someone had addressed when I was beginning my career," Zeigler said in a statement accompanying the release. "This book demystifies accounting and gives readers the honest perspective they need to make an informed decision about their professional future."
The book is published through Page Publishing and is available at bookstores and through major online retailers including Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play, and Barnes & Noble.
Studio CarryOnHarry sees the real value here less in the bookkeeping mechanics, which plenty of textbooks cover, and more in the career-path candor from someone who’s actually sat in the controller’s chair.
