Author Stephanie Walls’s New Book, “Freddy the Frog Flops on a Log,” is a Creative Children’s Story About a Restless Boy Who is Told a Bedtime Story About a Busy Frog
Author Stephanie Walls has had a love of creating children’s stories since she became a wife and a mother of two children who demanded more stories than she had books. After taking children’s literature classes during her college days, she became inspired to begin writing “Freddy the Frog Flops on a Log,” her very first children’s book. Stephanie hopes that this book will encourage children to find a playful piece of Freddy the Frog in themselves and flip and flop their way through each page.
Stephanie lives in West Virginia with her husband, Jeff, son Jeffrey, and three Great Danes named Abby, Lady Blue Belle, and Beowulf. She looks forward to every moment with her grown children, Jeffrey and Adam (Nicholas), her daughter-in-law Victoria, and her soon-to-be grandson Sam.
Stephanie writes, “Once upon a time, there was this little frog named Freddy. Freddy was a very busy little frog. Freddy the Frog loved to flop real fast on a log in the freezing water during the day. No matter how long he was in the water, he never got tired of flopping on his log! Flipping and flopping this way and that, flipping and flopping just like a cat. Flip, flop, flip, flop. In and out, he would hop from the water to the log. Flip, flop, flip, flop.”
Published by Page Publishing, Stephanie Walls’s imaginative tale comes to life with vivid illustrations by James D. Williamson. When Nicholas cannot sleep, his mother tells him the bedtime story of Freddy the Frog, which puts a smile on Nicholas’s face before he falls asleep.

New Book from Relationship Coach Kat O’Connor Tackles the Everyday Friction of Blended Families

Kat O’Connor, a relationship coach who has spent more than a decade working with singles, couples and blended families, has released a new guide for stepparents, "Life in the Blender: A Stepparent’s Guide to Blending a Family," published through Newman Springs Publishing.
The book is aimed at a specific, common problem: what happens after the wedding, when two households and two sets of family habits are supposed to become one. O’Connor’s book focuses on the friction points that tend to come up in that process, including loyalty conflicts between children and parents, disagreements over household boundaries, and communication breakdowns between stepparents and stepchildren, according to the announcement.
O’Connor holds a degree in sociology and is a certified relationship coach. The announcement also draws on her own history: a divorce in 2006, nine years as a single parent, and the formation of her own blended family in 2019. The publisher describes the book as combining that personal experience with her coaching background, working through real-world scenarios rather than abstract advice.
"My mission has always been to help families transition from conflict and confrontation back to communication and conversation," O’Connor said in the announcement. "This book represents years of coaching experience combined with my personal journey through blended family life, and I hope it becomes an invaluable companion for anyone seeking to build a stronger, more connected household."
According to the publisher, the book walks through strategies for building trust across family lines, setting boundaries, and developing relationships between stepparents and stepchildren, with the stated aim of helping readers move from tension toward what the announcement calls a more cohesive family unit. It’s worth noting the title has been used before: a 2006 memoir by singer Sandi Patty, also called "Life in the Blender," covered similar territory about blended families from a personal and faith-based perspective, though it’s a separate, unrelated book.

Bryan P. Harty has a new novel out: "Cacophony Of Separation," a dark space opera depicting a future in which Earth’s dominant leaders control alien races and subjugated worlds through force. Studio CarryOnHarry received an announcement of the release, published through Newman Springs Publishing.
The book follows two central characters. Boer, a disgraced addict, seeks redemption by facing trials the publisher characterizes as impossible. Rebecca has lost her memory but is driven by vengeance. According to the announcement, the two are on a collision course that will determine whether humanity’s empire survives its own corruption, with ancient powers maneuvering behind the scenes throughout.
The publisher describes Harty’s work as centered on morally ambiguous protagonists and unresolved consequences, with the author’s stated approach avoiding tidy endings in favor of choices that carry lasting weight. The novel’s advertised themes include addiction, redemption, transformation, and the fracturing of empires built on subjugation.
Harty framed the book’s central question in his own words: "This novel asks what we’re willing to become in pursuit of redemption, and whether the cost is ever worth the price. Boer and Rebecca exist in a galaxy that doesn’t forgive weakness, yet both must find strength in the wreckage of their former selves. I wanted to create a space opera that refuses to look away from the brutality of power and the hunger for transformation."
