Growing up as an only child, Carl Lindou developed a large imagination. Eventually, as time went on, he decided to share it with the world and write a book. During the writing of this book, he shared it with his wife, Cherlynn, who had many good ideas. He knew that after she had spent much time in the library growing up, she wanted to be part of writing a book. Carl figured since she had pointed out many good ideas, he would put her name on it. They have been a writing team ever since.
Carl and Cherlynn share, “Before the first day of the war, Gabriel was a simple crop duster with a growing crop-dusting company. That all changed the day a war with creatures not of this world came to his doorstep. The day Gabriel was confronted by the fact that humans were not alone in the universe, he was also confronted by the fact that the United Nations knew of another Earthlike planet called Azora. He discovered that people could settle on this planet and live successfully. Meanwhile, his former wild flame, Jackie, came gliding back into his life. Jackie, one of the first fighter pilots under the command of the United States Space Force and the one that got away, had trained for warfare among the stars. She never thought it would be against an alien race or that she was expected to leave planet Earth behind. With the battles to come and the trials of protecting a new colony on Azora, Jackie and Gabriel also found themselves falling back into passionate love. It was their inevitably combined destiny that they faced a world of new realities together, including escaping with their lives intact and finding peace during a time of such pain and suffering.”

Suzanne Hobbs’s latest release through Page Publishing, "The Sleepy Snake: A Perfect Bedtime Story," chronicles a weary serpent moving through various locations seeking an ideal sleeping spot.
The book is a follow-up to Hobbs’s debut, "The Hungry Snake," which introduced the same snake on a different kind of search: a hungry trek through a cast of curious animals in pursuit of the perfect meal. Where that first book ran on appetite, this one runs on exhaustion, with the snake encountering a series of unlikely resting spots before finding one that suits him.
Hobbs spent close to fourteen years as a television reporter and news anchor for NBC and CBS affiliates in Idaho, covering court and crime stories. According to the announcement, a case she covered in 2000 drew her into advocacy for Safe Haven laws, work that led to her own daughter’s adoption in 2003. The announcement describes that history as part of what shapes her writing now, including her attention to themes of safety and comfort for children.
"My hope is that children will see themselves in the sleepy snake’s journey," Hobbs said in the announcement. "This story celebrates the beauty of rest and encourages young readers to imagine their own cozy places where they can feel safe and peaceful."
Page Publishing markets the book as a bedtime resource designed to smooth the shift from being awake to sleeping, featuring invitations for young readers to envision their own creatures and peaceful locations in the story. Charles Zeigler, Jr., a certified management accountant with roughly five decades of experience in accounting and finance, has published "Basic Accounting Theory for Beginners or Those Thinking of a Career," a guide aimed at people weighing accounting as a profession or simply trying to understand how a company’s books work.
The book is built around a single teaching device: a fictional manufacturing company whose transactions readers follow for a full year, from the initial investment through closing the books at year’s end. According to the book’s description, that structure is meant to walk readers through the accounting equation, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and how financial statements come together, building the concepts from first principles rather than treating them as material to memorize for an exam.
Zeigler’s own career included work as an accountant, auditor, controller, and financial analyst, with a focus on industrial cost accounting, according to the announcement. He has worked across corporations in Michigan and California subsidiaries, and describes one formative experience installing new accounting systems into a company culture resistant to the change. That background, per the announcement, shaped his approach to explaining technical material in plain language.
The book also takes on a question aimed squarely at the undecided: accounting or finance. Zeigler lays out, in his own words, which certifications carry weight in the field, what realistic salary and growth trajectories look like, and the paths from staff-level roles up to controller or CFO. It closes with what the book’s description calls personal advice on what tends to separate people who succeed in the field from those who don’t.
"I wanted to create a resource that answers the questions I wish someone had addressed when I was beginning my career," Zeigler said in a statement accompanying the release. "This book demystifies accounting and gives readers the honest perspective they need to make an informed decision about their professional future."
