Meet Ed Roman Music Artist from Canada

Tell us about yourself ? Introduction Note : Name / Band Name / Location from / Goal in Life
My name is Canadian musician Ed Roman and it’s a pleasure to be able to speak with you today. I come from Ontario Canada. I am a singer songwriter bass player and multi-instrumentalist.
How long you been in performing arts ? Share some details of initial days / learning days / experimenting days to grow to BE WHAT YOU ARE TODAY
I started off playing music because of a learning disability called dyslexia. At a very young age my mother put a guitar in my hands as she realized it was important for me to express myself outside of the normal realms of academia. Since about the age of five I’ve been singing songs and telling stories. I studied music in my life more like a quest for knowledge and truth in melody & language. It emancipated me from my struggle with my learning disability and has given me more advantages today than I’ve ever dreamed of.
What was most attractive part for you to be in this industry ? Hints : Glamour / Recognition / Satisfaction / Please Express the mindset part of joining industry.
One of the most attractive parts about being in the industry I work in is the people and the experiences. It is taking me all over the world. I have met so many amazing people from so many walks of life and it has enriched my own life tremendously. The industry I work in can be a struggle on a materialistic level, but the harder the battle is the sweeter the victory. Hard work and persistence is the key in anything that we do in our lives. Music has shown me that, and giving me a sense of personal stature and freedom to be happy with what I’ve created.
Share some experiences ( good or bad ) any that made you grow in life or profession ? Hint : Any special person who made you learn your art more / any books that helped / experiences that gave you wisdom.
As I mentioned before, I struggled immensely with dyslexia. Unbeknownst to me the very problem I have dealt with has given me a different set of tools. Tools of 3-D spatial and pictorial comprehension. It has been an essential tool for me as a writer and one who uses their imagination with words and ideas. A number of years ago I released the song titled RED OMEN. It was the story of my life both fictitious and factual. The story of a dyslexics life struggle to believe in himself. The song eventually became a music video with the assistance of famed animator Nelson Diaz from New York City, We created a fantastic video that has played at film festivals all over the world. Reaching out to the dyslexic society both in the United States and Canada, the video for the song Red Omen has become the Vanguard and mouthpiece for raising awareness and attention for facilitating programs for children that struggle with dyslexia. It has been a bigger than me kind of experience. It has shown me so much about who I am and what I am capable of. It is giving me a new kind of strength and confidence in what I do. I am so proud to say it has done many good things..
Who inspired you ? How do you work on creating your own signature style ? Hint : Learning Skills / Mentorship / Experimenting / Practice Rituals / Asking feedback / study market trends / Notice public responses . How do you analyze all this to be known as you and BE YOU ?
Let every person be my mentor so I may learn from them…. I have learned so many things in my life from so many people. From children two adults it never ceases to amaze me what sharing of information can do. I’ve had some wonderful mentors in my life that have been very suggestive of the right and crucial moments of a young musicians journey. I grew up in a household of three generations and consequently experienced a very wide variety of music. At a young age I saw so many peoples enthusiasm for what music represented. The social significance and anthropological importance of defining who we were in are living moment. I’ve spent most of my life studying artists like university degrees ranging from many genres such as rhythm and blues jazz rock ‘n’ roll funk spoken word classical music and just about everything in the kitchen sink. We are all defined by our influences and at the same time, defined by them in our limitations. All of the experiences we have playing music amalgam into one, which becomes you. You become the new conduit for feelings and emotions. Weather it be in practice or in creation, its’s always about paying attention to what the original idea is saying to you. It asks questions all the time. Questions that need to be answered. And when you answer them amazing things happen..
What do you want to convey through your music?
Be a free thinker. Take nothing at face value. Love your neighbour as you would love yourself.
Story behind making of your new track / Album? ( idea of making , some interesting inspirational facts to share)
The newest project I am working on is an Album called “A Recipe For Perpetual Spring” There have been two single releases in the last year. The first single “Stronger” is a song about self empowerment and has received a considerable amount of attention worldwide . The most recent release is a song called “ Tomorrow Is Today” and is about acting in the moment. The Buddha once said “the problem is you think you have time”.. The album is reflective of the grand Circle of life. The continual movements of existence not only here on our terrestrial plane but even the grand mechanisms of the cosmos and their cyclical nature. Igniting nature restores its integrity. This is the theme. Through death there is rebirth. There can be no true beauty without decay. igne natura renovatur integra
Any interesting trivia about making of song ? Hint : Brainstorming Idea / Recording hurdles / Sorting our any creative differences with your team etc
We had so much fun making the video but we had a lot of difficulties with the drone that we were using. At one point it crashed into the roof of the house and we had to rebuild it on site.. lol Regardless we got it up and running and the video was shot.. The important thing about the lyrical content of the song is to remember what it’s asking. Who do we put our faith and trust in.. and why.. sometimes we may even have trouble trusting ourselves..
People who you would like to thank ? Hint : Critics / Supporters who brought best in you and today you want them to thank about your growth
I must say thank you to all the Ed Roman fans around the world especially the good folks in Singapore. I can’t think Harry enough for having me today. I met you through my fantastic manager Michael Stover at MTS Management and we’ve been friends for years. I also have to say thank you to my producer and engineer Michael Jack for his love and support and fantastic partnership for so many years. Also must say thank you to the musicians involved. Tobias Tinker and David Ishmael Patel.. Unbelievable musicians with huge hearts…
People who you would like to work with and people you idolize to be like professionally ?
I like people that are rough and tumble and like to improvise and make things happen in the moment. I would love to work with somebody like Tom Waits. He is the iconic American poet songwriter and musician.
Where do you see your music 3 years from now ? Hints : Your Dreams / Inputs that you are gonna put in to reach there.
My goal is always to play music to people everywhere I can around the world. This has been my mission since I was a young man. It is why I feel I am here.. In the next three years I see myself riding and working in this industry as I have been since I was a teenager. I’m also a writer so I’d like to take my stab at a few scripts for some films. I also love acting film and theatre.
How would you like to stretch your boundaries of genre in future projects ?
I find the connection between film and music fascinating. The emotionally driven tapestry of music that helps accentuate any film has always been something I’ve been very interested in. As I have been working over the last three years with the “Red Omen” video project, it has given me some foresight and new interest in this field.
Message for Fans and listeners. ( Apart from connecting …. Your Advice / Inspiring Message
Keep an open head about everything in life. Let everyone be your teacher so that you can learn. Help those in need less fortunate than you. Work hard and play hard. And always remember to stop and smell the roses and release yourself…
