“Power” Star Joseph Sikora’s Black Fox Productions Taps Writer Craig Gore to Adapt Crime Thriller “Everybody Pays”
[ad_1]
Bob Lowe would learn first hand the myriad ways of how the system can fail. Aleman was acquitted at his first trial and wasn’t retried until the 90’s, twenty-years later. Aleman would go on to commit multiple more hits for the mob while Lowe and his children were forced into hiding in the witness protection program and their lives were destroyed. Lowe’s life later hit a downward spiral and he ended up serving time in prison while Aleman walked the streets a free man.
Veteran Chicago Tribune writers Maurice Possley and Rick Kogan gained insider access to the “Outfit” to write this honest portrayal of the mob’s distorted moral universe, the legal system it corrupted and a witness-protection system riddled with flaws. In this charged and ultimately redemptive story, only one man emerges a hero.
Joseph Sikora, best known as Tommy Egan on Starz’s “Power” franchise, has a first-look deal for his Black Fox Productions banner with Lionsgate TV. Joseph is also heralded for his roles on “Ozark,” “True Detective” and “Maniac.” His brother, Albin Sikora, handles day-to-day operations at Black Fox. Albin got his start at ICM in New York, and more recently served as Director of Public Affairs at Weber Shandwick in Washington, D.C. Joseph and Albin are looking to create storylines inspired in part by their native Chicago – exposing the inner-workings of the city, that follow the establishment of modern-day institutions and laws, and that define often-ignored pockets of the urban landscape.
Joseph Sikora shared the news Wednesday in a Facebook post “Thrilled to be working with the highest calibre writer, Craig Gore, to adapt the book ‘Everybody Pays’ for the big screen.”
Craig Gore has served as writer and Executive Producer for such shows as “Chicago P.D.” for NBC and “S.W.A.T.” for CBS/Sony. Gore has also sold numerous TV pilots, most recently “The Alphabets” to Fox, based on the life of DEA agent Jack Riley (credited with bringing down cartel kingpin “El Chapo”) with David Ayer attached to direct.

Retired Ohio Educator Myrna Sanner Publishes Case for Classical Education in New Book
Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk
Myrna Sanner, an educator with more than four decades of classroom experience, has released "Pushing the Education Reset Button: Acquiring Knowledge and Building Character," published through Covenant Books.
The book argues that federal involvement in schools, teachers’ unions, university-level teacher training, and heavy classroom use of technology have weakened American education, according to the announcement. Sanner’s proposed remedy is a return to what she calls holistic, classical education, which the book positions as a way to rebuild academic rigor, improve attendance and test scores, and strengthen student character and behavior.
According to a synopsis of the book, Sanner frames her argument around a set of figures and concerns: national data showing roughly 31 percent of fourth-graders proficient in reading, and U.S. student rankings of 38th in math and 24th in science compared with other countries internationally. The book also raises concerns about ideological content in schools and what Sanner describes as a decline in shared values such as respect, responsibility and hard work, which she argues classical education historically reinforced.
Sanner’s background spans more than thirty classrooms over her career, work helping launch early Head Start programs, a teaching stint at the American School in Japan, and service on multiple curriculum development committees, the announcement states. She was on staff at an Ohio elementary school when it was named Ohio School of the Year, holds advanced degrees in education and counseling, and has completed Professional Teachers Certification. She has also mentored more than fifty teachers, according to the release.
"My diverse experience in education, as a teacher and mother, has convinced me that returning to the fundamental principles of holistic, classical education presents our most promising opportunity to rebuild academic excellence and strengthen the character of our students," Sanner said in a statement accompanying the release.
The book arrives as the publisher notes the United States marking the 250th anniversary of its founding this year, a framing Sanner invokes directly, tying her argument for classical education to the country’s founding-era emphasis on education as, in her words, a safeguard for a free and unified society.
"Pushing the Education Reset Button" is available through Covenant Books’ website, as well as major retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google Play and the Apple iTunes Store.
Studio CarryOnHarry will be watching whether Sanner’s classical-education argument gets traction beyond the book itself, given how contested the debate over curriculum and teacher training has become in American schools.

Pennsylvania Teacher Writes Debut Book on Recognizing and Recovering from Scams
Balle Balle Radio™ Entertainment Desk
Roberta Lydick, an elementary school educator from Hookstown, Pennsylvania, has published her debut book, "Scams, Scams, Scams, and More Scams," a resource designed to help readers identify scams and prevent financial loss. The book came out through Hawes & Jenkins in July 2026, according to publisher listings, and is available in paperback for $16.95 as well as through major e-book retailers.
Lydick wrote the book after years of watching the toll fraud takes on people close to her, according to the announcement. She draws on that experience, rather than a background in law enforcement or cybersecurity, to walk readers through how scams typically unfold.
The book covers a wide range of schemes, the publisher’s description states, including online impersonation, romance scams, social media exploitation, identity theft, and financial fraud. Beyond explaining how scammers operate and what warning signs to watch for, it also addresses what to do after the fact, offering steps toward recovery for people who have already been targeted.
"I have met too many people who blame themselves for being scammed, when they are truly victims," Lydick said in a statement. "My hope is that this book helps everyone recognize the dangers around them and take control of their own protection."
The subject is a crowded one. Books on scam recognition and online fraud prevention have circulated for more than a decade, often written by cybersecurity professionals or journalists. What distinguishes Lydick’s entry, based on the material supplied, is its framing around shame and self-blame among victims rather than purely technical mechanics of fraud.
The book is sold through Hawes & Jenkins’ website, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Google Play, and the Apple iTunes Store, along with bookstores generally.
Studio CarryOnHarry sees the real value in a book like this less in novelty and more in reach — fraud education written by someone outside the security industry may land differently with readers who’d tune out a more technical guide.
