Author Robert Wurm’s New Book, “The Struggles of Marginalized Children and Adolescents,” Discusses How Traumatic Experiences Can Cause Children to Become Disparaged
For thirty years, author Robert Wurm has been practicing marriage and family therapy, working with individuals, families, and marginalized children for most of his professional life. He experienced divorce at the age of sixteen years old and suspects that much of his response to life is the result of that trauma. He was a junior in high school of 2,500 students with no knowledge of anybody going through the same experience. Robert has spent forty years working with adolescents, traumatized children, individuals, and couples that may have experienced drama in their life as a child.
Wurm shares, “There are many similarities between adolescents, marginalized children, and those that are left with no hope at the end of their life. Marginalized children are those exposed to a drama in their life that’s not appropriate for their age to understand, those who have been exposed to the drama of divorce, adoption, molestation, war, violence, a fundamental church, or a toxic family. Your response is dependent on your age, your kind of exposure, and the length of time of being exposed to this drama in your life. It will determine the struggles you will have with life. Some families are only living out their history rather than meeting your needs as a child.
“Parents may be only responding to their history and to their family’s priority of values rather than playing a public role that meets the needs of the children under their care. All of us are in struggle to bring our private life under control. We share our struggles in common with all other humans. The struggle is to bring ourselves under control in a chosen community. Many struggles in life can be experienced as being similar for all adolescents to emancipate from their families to bring our public role together with our private desires in life.
“To bring integrity together to a lived life and experience wholeness to life, we will need a safe community that does not judge us but will help us process safely the events in our life. We will need a Creator in our life and a priority of values that are lived. Experiences of life can either make you stronger or set you up for self-destruction. You will need hope for the future. Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks postponed its debut, a founding XM executive has released a memoir about the satellite radio company’s launch. "They Pay for Water: Building XM Satellite Radio from a Paper Concept to Millions of Subscribers," by Dan Murphy, went on sale August 17 in ebook, paperback and hardcover, according to the announcement.
The company was set to launch its inaugural U.S. satellite radio service on September 12, 2001, in the Dallas/Fort Worth and San Diego markets. Murphy and the executive team flew out of Washington, D.C. in the early morning hours of September 11, per the announcement. The launch was pushed back, going live September 25 and expanding nationally by that November.
After joining Sony as a 24-year-old with minimal prior experience, Murphy spent 15 years helping to capitalize, build, and launch XM’s satellite infrastructure, create its receivers, and establish distribution channels in retail and automotive sectors., the announcement states. "After Walkman, Discman, I was looking to join the next big audio innovation when a recruiter called," Murphy said. "It sounded perfect. It was going to be radio the way it should be."
The volume addresses the company’s funding rounds, satellite deployment, distribution challenges across retail and automotive channels, programming strategy, customer economics, multiple Chapter 11 threats, and its ultimate acquisition by Sirius., according to the announcement. "We had spent years getting ready for the biggest launch of our careers, and then the country stopped," Murphy said. "For weeks afterward, I did not know whether anyone would still care about satellite radio."

‘SALIGIA’ Inverts the Seven Deadly Sins: New Book Explores Virtues Through Mythological Fantasy

Author Tagore Almeida’s new book, “SALIGIA: The Evil Is Outside. The War Is Within.,” is now available on Amazon, according to the announcement promoting the release.

SALIGIA is a centuries-old Latin mnemonic device used in Christian theology to remember the seven deadly sins: Superbia (pride), Avaritia (greed), Luxuria (lust), Invidia (envy), Gula (gluttony), Ira (wrath) and Acedia (sloth). The sins themselves never appear as an explicit list in the Bible; the grouping developed within early Christian tradition, drawing on scattered biblical passages, and the acronym became a memory aid for clergy and laypeople alike. Where the traditional mnemonic catalogs vices, Almeida’s book inverts it: according to the announcement, the story is structured as a journey through a symbolic ancestral dwelling with separate rooms, each embodying different virtues rather than sins — courage, compassion, humility, integrity, forgiveness, reverence and love. Other promotional material describes the book as a mythological fantasy following characters named Salem and Medea on a quest against the forces the title names, and credits the release to publisher The Alcove Publishers, which has described the book as blending mythology, self-reflection and mystery.
The announcement frames the project as “a fusion of mythological elements, spiritual themes, philosophical inquiry, and personal exploration,” built around the idea that readers already possess the virtues the book examines, rather than seeking them from external sources.
