Studio talks with musician Louise Balistiar
“Latin Girl” is a homage to all the beautiful Latin girls
Goal in Life?
I am not a big goal setter or planner and tend to be one who lives in the moment. My goal in life at present thought would be to live my life in love and loving people well.
How long in performing arts?
It’s been over 20 years since I began singing for audiences. But I started writing songs as a child, humming and coming up with melodies. I would often sing to calm my fears and doubts.
Who inspired you?
There are many inspirational people in the world that have come before me that move me with their creative artistic talents. But a few of my favorite performers and musicians are Gino Vannelli, Dionne Warwick and Santana.
How do you work on creating your own signature style?
I really practice singing from the heart and writing lyrics that touch the heart. I am always discovering new nuances of my own voice and style. Every new album and every new song evolves into where my sound is today.
What do you want to convey through your music?
That we cannot live without love; its impossible!
Story behind making of your new track?
“Latin Girl” is a homage to all the beautiful Latin girls because they truly are beautiful.
Any interesting trivia about making of song ?
I was working in a building in San Francisco, with a cosmetic Company where there were beautiful girls, but so many extraordinary Latin Girls.
People who you would like to thank ?
I would have to initially mention my brother Angelo Balestier, because he was the person who introduced me to music. I don’t write music without thinking of him. In addition, so many local amazing San Francisco artists that I have met that have inspired me to press on and create new music.
People who you would like to work with and people you idoloze to be like professionally ?
I would be thrilled to create with Carlos Santana and Sheila E and believe that my songwriting is in a similar vein.
Where do you see your music 3 years from now ?
I see my fan base growing exponentially and hopefully the music will come back to more live shows and concert touring where I am able to perform and reach my audience in a more personal approach.
How would you like to stretch your boundaries of genre in future projects ?
I’ve never limited my songwriting to one genre or style. I’ve written, Rock, Christian, Pop, Funk, Gospel, Reggae, and Spanish Language songs. I feel to stretch my style further I would compose more music with Spanish lyrics mixed with English language. I really like the combination and the Latin market is showing exciting growth.
Have you already started work on next project ? Oh yes, lately I have been writing songs daily in assorted styles and my label Big Fuss Records is very excited about the new material stating that it is very versatile and heartfelt.
Anything you want to disclose about it ?
The music is energized and I would invite people to follow and listen because these new songs are uplifting and contagious.
