Studio CarryOnHarry : Heistheartist is an American Christian singer-songwriter from Central Islip, NY. Formerly a secular neo-soul singer signed to “Bentley Records” under his biological name “LeeMann Bassey,” Heistheartist discovered that his true calling was with the Lord after hearing an inspiring sermon by TD Jakes online one day. That day he was inspired to teach the world about the Lord like TD Jakes did with his Sermon, but through music.

Tell us about yourself ?
I am Christian singer-songwriter Heistheartist and I am from Central Islip, NY USA. My goal is to spread the word of God to as many people as possible through music.
How long you been in performing arts ?
I have been in the performing arts for 4 years now after being discovered on Instagram singing covers by a local producer who saw a video of me singing one day and invited me to his studio to record my first single titled “Honey”.
What was most attractive part for you to be in this industry ?
Definitely being able to reach a large number of people through music. It’s a profession that has the highest visibility in the world.
Share some experiences ( good or bad ) any that made you grow in life or profession ?
Definitely being shy as a kid. I was teased for my shyness growing up but God put me in situations where I had no choice but to break out of my shell and grow. I’m thankful for that because those situations are the reason why I am able to be the entertainer I am now.
Who inspired you ? How do you work on creating your own signature style ?
I don’t have one particular musical inspiration because my music is multi genre. However, I created my style by reaching down into my soul and singing in a way that felt right to me.
What do you want to convey through your music?
That God is always with you even during your darkest hours.
Story behind making of your new track / Album? ( idea of making , some interestings inspirational facts to share)
My EP “The Book Of Mary” is based on Mary Magdalene in the Bible and is dedicated to those suffering from sexual exploitation and to encourage those victims to seek help.
Any interesting trivia about making of song ?
The original version of “Childish” off of my EP was the Afrobeats remix. However it’s vibe didn’t fit as a standalone for the EP (that’s why there are three versions of the song on the EP).

I would like to thank God first and foremost. Also, everyone in the music industry who has helped me get to where I am now, especially my manager Michael Stover.
People who you would like to work with and people you idolize to be like professionally ?
I would definitely likea to work with singer-songwriter Ne-Yo in the future. I admire his songwriting along with songwriter Stacy Barthe.
Where do you see your music 3 years from now ?
I hope to be touring worldwide and bringing the world of God to every corner of the globe.
How would you like to stretch your boundaries of gener in future projects ?
I already am a genre bending artist. I’ve done EPs in genres spanning from Americana to Smooth Jazz. However, I do have a latin inspired project in the works. So stay tuned.
