Unbeknownst to its owner, this original painting is the work of a renowned Modernist artist

– A once ignored, forgotten, dusty, old painting has been recently discovered and identified as a lost work of art by an Impressionist and Realist artist. The oil on canvas was created by Ernest Lawson (1873-1931) who was a Canadian-American painter and original member of a small group of artists called The Eight. One of his more obscure works, “Jefferson Market Court” was recently found during a small estate auction and is now being offered for sale through online auction.
The artwork is open for bids in a stand-alone online auction, conducted by Mayo Auction and Realty of Belton, Missouri, ending April 13. “It’s an honor and a joy for us to have helped discover this lost piece of art and offer it to art collectors around the world,” says Robert Mayo, chief executive officer and auctioneer at Mayo Auction and Realty.
